Europe / Help finding details of emmigration from Poland to England 1845-1855
« on: Friday 04 September 20 16:24 BST (UK)  »
Hi all!

I have ancestors that emmigrated from Poland/Prussia to England some time between 1845 and 1855.

I am looking find details of their passage to England. Are there online resources that might help find more specific dates and routes? Passenger lists? Immigration records?

The people in question are:

SOLOMON, Israel born about 1825
SOLOMON, Rosina, born about 1822, his wife
SOLOMON, Dinah Miriam, born about 1847, his daughter

Thank you for any help you can offer!

Jason

England / DUTTON family / PHILLIPS family connection? pre-1800 Worcestershire
« on: Wednesday 09 February 11 04:30 GMT (UK)  »
Hi!

I have an ancestor John Dutton Phillips born 1835 and baptised at St Thomas, Dudley. His father was John Phillips (a gardener/agricultural labourer) [edit: new information] and his mother was Mary (a publican). Census records show them all to be born in Worcestershire.

I am having trouble tracking down more information on John Dutton Phillips' line and it's occurred to me that perhaps the "Dutton" comes from his mother, or either grandmother's name.

Does anyone have any information on a circa/pre1800 link between the Phillips and Dutton families?

Thanks so much!

Jason

Worcestershire / Help with John Dutton PHILIPS/PHILLIPS c.1836
« on: Wednesday 09 February 11 00:32 GMT (UK)  »
Hey!

Does anybody have any information about the family line of John Dutton Philips/Phillips b. c. 1836, Worcestershire?

The bits of information I have are:

- census records from 1841 placing him in Great Witley with parents John and Sarah and siblings Hannah, Edward, and Mary

- a marriage at St Thomas church, Dudley, 1858, to Ruth Darwin Rowley, at which time his father John is listed as deceased, but a Thomas Philips is a witness

- census records from 1881 placing him in Dudley with wife Ruth and children Annie, Mary, Edgar, Ruth, Richard, and Ralph, and listing his occupation as a chemist

I am having trouble tracing the lines of his father, John Philips (c. 1791, Worcestershire, variously agricultural labourer, labourer, and gardener) and his mother Sarah  (c. 1804, Pershore, Worcestershire). By 1851 Sarah is living as the wife of Thomas Phillips (c. 1808, Berrow, Worcestershire) in Much Marcle, Herefordshire.

Of course there are a few Philips/Phillips families in Worcestershire at the time, but any information on John and Sarah would be excellent. As a side-note, though, I wonder who this Thomas Phillips is? I sense a scandal! :-)

Thanks very much for any help you can provide!
