« on: Tuesday 14 April 15 18:02 BST (UK)  »
It seems that my laptop an HP Pavilion with Windows  8.1will no longer recognise when I put my photo card in the slot to download photos to the laptop. I just get a message saying no device found.I have tried with another card but still the same. Would appreciate any ideas why this has started happening.
Thanks

Wiltshire / Alderton Old School House
« on: Thursday 07 February 13 09:12 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I have found a photo which I think may include my grandfather who was born in Alderton in 1895. Does anyone recognise the building as being the Old School House. Most of the photos I can find on line show the front of the building but I think this was taken at the side.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Henry Pain
« on: Friday 25 January 13 14:25 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying without success to trace Henry Pain and his wife Elizabeth in the 1881 or later census.
In 1871 the are living in St Georges Wandsworth, Battersea Henry aged 30, Engine Fitter born Paddington, wife Elizabeth aged 29, born St Leonards Sussex, son Henry aged 3 born Clapham. Elizabeths mother Sarah Walker is also with them, aged 60 born Rochford Essex.
I have found a possible entry for Elizabeth in 1911 , living alone back in St Leonards Sussex. If this is the correct one she had been married 50 years and had 2 children but only one was still living. Henry was not with her, but her status still showed her as married.

Any help with the census details or marriage would be appreciated.

Please can anyone give me an idea when this photo was taken. I found it at my mum's house tonight and she thinks it must be of my grandmother, but no idea which child she is  :-\ :-\
The photo appears to be stuck onto the backing card.

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Randall LEIGH
« on: Thursday 23 February 12 21:22 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to trace Randall /Randle Leigh b1788 in Lancashire and his wife Hannah b1801 in Staffordshire in the 1851 census.
I have them in Shropshire in 1841 with daughter Frances aged 9 , and again in 1861 in St Leonards Sussex with grandson John aged 16.Randall was a gardener

I am trying to find a link to Thomas Walker a gardener who died in St Leonards in 1852 aged 47. Hannah Leigh was present at his death and I am wondering if she was his sister as both were born in Staffordshire.

Any help appreciated

Can anyone find Joseph Crinks born 1813 in the 1861 census in Bristol.

I have his marriage cert to Mary Jane Rea (b1820) in1840 at St James church, and have found them both in 1841 in Bedminster & 1851 in St Mary Redcliffe. There were no children. Joseph died in 1865 and the will index says late of The Rising Sun, Baptist Mills.
I believe I have Mary Jane in 1861 as a servant in Christchurch, Bristol, but cannot find Joseph.

I would appreciate if someone else can take a look for him and see if they have more success.
