I'm hoping someone can help finding a death record. Lucille Blampied, nee Smith born in London in 1893, married Snowdon Denis Blampied on Jersey in December 1917 and died sometime between 1928 and 1939. They had four children, two I am aware of - Esme Norah and Naomi Ruth and it's possible that Lucille died soon after Naomi was born in 1928. I have searched Ancestry and Jerrypedia for a death record but can't find one. If anyone has a subscription to the Jersey Archives, I would be very grateful if they could have a look to see if she appears in the Civil BMD registers there.

Thank you in advance.

Lancashire / Records of marriage licences St David's Liverpool (Welsh church)
« on: Wednesday 19 February 14 20:19 GMT (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone could tell me whether records of marriage licences issued for the Liverpool area exist.  I'm trying to trace more information on the marriage of James Faggetter and Mary Hughes who were married on 22nd September 1836 by licence in St David's Chapelry, Brownlow Hill, Liverpool.  I've tried searching on Ancestry and FindMyPast as well as a wider search on the net, but so far I can't see if these records exist, and if they do, where they might be located.

I've seen the entry in the parish register but I was hoping that the licence may give me another few snippets of information.  James was a Queen's Messenger and seems to have travelled all over the country so it has been a bit of a job to track his movements!  He was born in Bristol, married for the first time in Liverpool, married for the second time and died in London.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Islington Gazette lookup
« on: Saturday 09 March 13 21:02 GMT (UK)  »
I have discovered that my 3x g grandfather Charles William Fear (aka Hudson) died in Islington Workhouse Infirmary in April 1898.  He died after breaking his thigh bone and having congestion of the lungs after falling down some stairs.  There was an inquest which was reported in the Islington Gazette on 7 April 1898 and I would love to get hold of a copy of the article.  Having looked online, it looks like the Islington Local History Centre in Finsbury Library hold the microfiche of the Gazette.  I wonder if anyone is likely to be going there anytime soon and whether they would be prepared to find this article for me.  I would obviously reimburse any copying expenses incurred.  Look forward to any replies.  Kate

Europe / Translation of obituary please!
« on: Thursday 13 September 12 18:02 BST (UK)  »
Hope this is OK to post.  I wonder if anyone could translate the attached obituary for me from the Neue Freie Presse.  My German is OK, but I'm getting a bit confused with who is sister, brother, sister in law, wife etc etc!! Some of the text is hard to decipher as well as I'm not familiar with the font. Can recommend this site, especially for Jewish genealogy as the obituaries are quite detailed.  Its just a shame you cant search it!

London and Middlesex / Searching for John Bolton Sampson
« on: Thursday 13 September 12 14:14 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for John Bolton Sampson b Q2 1882 in St Olave, Southwark.  Both his parents, Charles Troughton Sampson and Minnie Edith Bolton, died within weeks of each other in 1885 and by the 1891 census he was residing with his uncle and aunt, Thomas Herbert Crump and Alma Philadelphia nee Sampson in Camberwell.  Also at the address is his grandfather, John White Sampson.  By 1901, John senior is married again and living in Yorkshire, and although I have been unable to find him on the 1901 census, I have located his marriage and death in 1905, both in Yorkshire.  There is however no further trace of John junior.  I have searched for possible deaths and drawn a blank.  I have also thought maybe, as he was living with the Crumps at a young age, he could have been adopted by them and taken their name.  Again, I have had no luck looking for a John Bolton Crump.  There is also no trace of him with his other family, his mothers sister and my g g grandmother Louisa Clara Smith nee Bolton.  I was wondering if anyone could suggest where else I might look.

Canada Lookup Request / Wilson death lookup, possibly in Ontario
« on: Wednesday 22 August 12 19:19 BST (UK)  »
I'm not sure if anyone can help - I have read the discussions regarding BMD's in Canada and have seen that it is not as easy to get the information as it is in the UK.  I am looking for the deaths of my grandmother's cousin and his wife, who emigrated to Canada in 1946.  I have found their passage details and also know that they went to and from the UK at least up until 1955.  Their names are Basil Howard Wilson and his wife Hazel Olive nee Sangster.  I believe that they may have originally settled in Toronto, but have lost track of them after that.  They had three daughters (that I know of), but as they are potentially still living I will not post their details here.  This is what I know:

Basil Howard Wilson born 1912 in Islington.  Parents - Dorothy nee Hudson and Richard Bertram Wilson (his marriage has the names reversed, so could be either way).

A few years ago I was contacted by a probate researcher as another of my grandmother's cousins had died intestate and the company were trying to locate all the possible heirs.  Unfortunately they drew a blank on Basil and an insurance policy was put in place in case he ever came forward to make his claim on the estate.  To my knowledge this didn't happen but I'm now really curious to find out what happened to Basil and his family.

I hope someone can point me in the right direction!

Other Countries / Cemetery in Tangiers
« on: Friday 03 August 12 20:17 BST (UK)  »
Whilst researching my family history, I have come across a letter written to my grandmother regarding the placing of a headstone on a grave in Tangier.  The name of the cemetery in the letter is Tangier Cemeterio Europeo, but when I googled it, I couldn't find anything out about it.  I am intrigued to find out who the grave belongs to and the letter details the location of the burial so once I find out where it is, I may be able to hopefully put a name to it.  Any help would be gratefully received.

Hello All,

I have been researching some of my ancestors in Jersey on the OPAC site and have found a record for one of my grandfather's cousins in the Sentences and Prosecutions by the Field Command and Troop Courts database and was wondering if anyone could tell me what this was and why she may have been recorded here.  Her name is Esme Norah Blampied, born 05/03/1923 and the reference is:

D/Z/H6/8 Sentences and Prosecutions by the Field Command and Troop Courts 1944-45, cases 133-213, includes index 03/09/1944 - 13/02/1945

Hoping someone can shed some light on this....

Hi all

I wonder if someone would be able to lookup a marriage for me.  The name is Vincent Bolton Smith b 1897 and an unknown wife?  I am not absolutely certain that he would have been married on Jersey, but I know that his parents lived in Wrentham Hall from 1918 until their deaths in the 1940s.  I have been unable to find a marriage on the mainland at all.  Also, I know Vincent had a daughter in 1924, Vauna June Smith, but once again I can't find a birth record in the UK, so its possible she was also born on Jersey.  Maybe someone would be kind enough to look this up as well? ;)  Thanks in advance.
