Nottinghamshire / Help with a marriage: Richard Thompson of Sneinton
« on: Sunday 02 April 17 11:17 BST (UK)  »
Hi All, I have never been able to find a marriage for my Great, Great Grandfather. His name was Richard Thompson born in 1835 in Sneinton. He was a Cordwainer, as was his Father Thomas Thompson born 1811.

His wife, to whom I have no surname, was named Mary Elizabeth.

I have him/them on the census for 41, 51, 61, 71, 81.

The children, all born in Sneinton, were:

Elizabeth Mary Thompson 1863–1892

William Thomas Holmes Thompson 1867–1949 (My Great Granddad)

John Richard Thompson 1870–

Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Cheers, Ade.

Nottinghamshire / Charlotte Chambers (nee Stanton) 1811 - 1850

Hi All, I have come to a real brick wall when researching my Great Grandmother x3.

Born around 1811. She first turns up in the 1841 census in Radford as the wife of William Chambers. (1795 - 1866) This is my only record of her bar her Death.

Had a Daughter Mary Ann Chambers (1834-1907) My Great Grandmother x 2. Who married to William Sam Hickling. Her other Daughter was Ruth Chambers 1839-1844.

She committed Suicide in 1850 (Cut her own Throat) and is buried in Notts General Cemetery.

I cannot find:

1) A Marriage to William Chambers. One would imagine it would be around 1834?
2) Any record of Birth/Baptism so I don't know her parents.

Any advice or help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers, Ade.

Montgomeryshire / Fanny Barrett 1856

Hi Guys, I am new to the forum.

My wife and I are trying to research her Great Great Grandmother, Miss Fanny Barrett. We seem to have come up against a brick wall.

She was born to Robert Barrett (1820 - 1883) & Sarah Pryce/Price (1821) They married on June 18th 1842 in Montgomery.

Fanny had a son, who was ilegitimate, named John Thomas Barrett, 24th Sept 1877, Castle St, Montgomery. He was my wife's Great Grandfather. John Thomas was raised by her parents.

We simply cannot find any record of Fanny anywhere after she gave birth to her Son. No further census info in 1881 or 1891, no deaths, or marriages, etc.

We attended the "Who do you think you are LIVE show" on Saturday. We were hoping to get some help there, but we had no luck.

Any help or possible leads would be very gratefully recieved!

Thanks!

Cheers, Ade
