World War Two / Allied P.O.Ws in Germany WW2
« on: Wednesday 22 June 16 05:07 BST (UK) »
My father was an Australian Soldier captured on Crete in June 1941 and interred in German P.O.W. Camps. He was repatriated to England in April 1945 before being sent home to Australia in June 1945.
I understand that the P.O.W.s were questioned as to their treatment etc. In England.
I paid the U.K. National Archives to have WO 344/21/2 set of records searched, but they said they found nothing. Was I looking at the right set of records?
He was mentioned in dispatches, for several escape attempts, and I was able to download the record of what he actually did, which was digitised, from the National Archives, WO 373/102/752. That record is not in Australia.
Can anyone help with regards to what records am I actually looking for?
Regards
Lorayne
