Montgomeryshire / The Lodge Caersws.
« on: Saturday 10 February 24 16:13 GMT (UK)  »
Michael Finn 73 was buried in Wrexham in 1943.
His abode in the register is The Lodge Caersws.

I can't find anything about this place only a newspaper article in 1904 that suggests that it might have been a workhouse.  Vagrants are mentioned.

Can anyone help.

The Common Room / James / Jim Gee. Help please.
« on: Saturday 03 February 24 15:33 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking at James Gee. In a Wrexham newspaper Supplement of 1907 he is the late Jim  Gee,  a Wrexham Character.
I only find him in 1871 Wrexham census.
James Gee 35 militia man b Wrexham
Wife Ann 38. Children William,  Mary,  Catherine and Margaret.
Catherine turns up in Salford in 1881, William in Bootle , but he comes back to Wales in Llangollen later.

1901 Wrexham possibly has Ann 64 a widow with daughter Mary.

No sign of James anywhere.  He is mentioned in Welsh Newspapers in 1870s and 1880s and is in Wrexham.
He is a Liberal supporter.

Can anyone help.

Immigrants & Emigrants - General / UK to Colorado in 1891
« on: Saturday 20 January 24 14:39 GMT (UK)  »
I  have a Welsh lady who went to Silverdale Colorado in 1891, she died there in 1892.
I know enough about her life but am wondering how she and her gold miner husband would have got there from UK.
Where would they have sailed to etc.
Thanks

Technical Help / Updating satnav maps
« on: Saturday 23 December 23 12:01 GMT (UK)  »
I have a desktop PC and a Samsung tablet.
I don't have a laptop.
I am thinking of getting a new satnav. One has map updates with USB.
The other more expensive with Wifi and USB.
Would a tablet be able to download maps with Wifi or would I be wasting my money.
Thanks.
