Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / A Wedding Group to Restore Please.
« on: Friday 09 November 12 19:43 GMT (UK)  »
Hi again all,
Could i also have a Restore/Improve of this family wedding group and a date also please.
At the moment, i am not 100% sure who these relations are of mine, but the groom in the center could possibly be my G G G Grandfather, Charles Jenner Akehurst.
His wedding took place in Barming, near Maidstone in Kent. To the Bride, Elizabeth Ann Williamson Atkins (who came from Loose, near Maidstone) The date of the actual Wedding was 24th August 1879.
Would this tie in with the photograph at all in your opinions?
He was born in 1851 so would have been 28 at the wedding, and she was born 1850 and would be 29.

Also please, can anyone spot any possible close relations/similarity between the people in the photograph also please.

I know this is a lot to ask, but i feel that the various experts out there in this superb forum, are more than capable of the job.

Many thanks.

Hi There,

I am looking for any help in researching My great Grandmother, Margaret Agnes Rose Glasgo.
I have very little information about her or her family. She first appears in my grandmothers Patricia Glasgo birth certificate, Details are: Patricia Glasgo born 17 March 1912 at Newton Vicarage Soberton. Father unknown, Mother Margaret Agnes Rose Glasgo, a domestic servant at Waltham House, Droxford (Droxford Union Workhouse).
The next time she appears is on her marriage certificate Details are: Margaret Agnes Rose Glasgo, age 28 years, Spinster, Occupation Nurse, married Charles Henry Poffley, Age 24 years, Bachelor, Occupation Railway Porter S.E.& C. Railway 26th March 1913 Dartford Registry office Kent.

Margaret does not appear in any census and i can find no trace of her.

Does anyone have any access to the Droxford union Workhouse Records, to see if she appears there, or could anyone find any thing from the Soberton Vicarage records please?

My grandmother Patricia was always was telling me that she thought her mother Margaret was Irish by birth if that helps too, and also on her marriage certificate, her Father was given as a Duncan Glasgo, rank or Profession: Sergt Major 2nd Kings Liverpool Regiment.

Hoping anyone can help

Michael

Ireland / Trying to find any info about Duncan Glasgo and his family
« on: Tuesday 21 June 11 20:59 BST (UK)  »
Hi There,
Am Trying to find any information on my Great Great Grandfather on my Fathers Maternal side.

His name was Duncan Glasgo, probably born abt 1860, and we think he was maybe Belfast Irish by birth from information passed to my father from my Grandmother Patricia when she was alive.

She was born Patricia Glasgo 1912 in Droxford, Hampshire, and her mother was Margaret Agnes Rose Glasgo, not much known about her also, but my Grandmother Patricia, was convinced that her mother Margaret came from Belfast, Ireland.

Margaret Glasgo was working as a domestic servant at the Droxford Union Workhouse in 1912.
Margaret Married Charles Henry Poffley in 1913 and for the rest of her life lived in Maidstone, Kent, England.

On my Great Grandmother Margaret's Marriage certificate dated 1913, A Duncan Glasgo is named as the father of the bride, The description reads, "Sgt Major 2nd Kings Liverpool Regt"

I am looking for any help on researching the Glasgo name, and especially anything on either Margaret, or her father Duncan please.
I also realize that names may have changed over the years, so Glasgo may have been Glasgow, Glasco, Glascow or any other variation

If anyone could help please.

Regards,

Michael

Hi there all,
Here we have a picture of my Great Grandmother, My Grandmother as a child, and her two brothers.
(from left to right, My Great Uncle Harold Poffley, My Great Grandmother Margaret Agnes Rose Poffley (Nee Glasgo), My Grandmother Patricia Poffley, and my Great Uncle Arthur Poffley.
I believe this photo was taken in Darjeeling India, approximately 1918, as my Great Grandfather, Charles Henry Poffley was serving in the Army over there.
My Grandmother was born in Hampshire in 1912, so the approximate age of her in this photo is about 6years old.
If i could ask for a conformation on the date please, and perhaps a Restore and maybe a colour too

The link to the original image is here too for all the restorers
