Ayrshire / McParland/lane/McFarlane - where'd they go?!
« on: Sunday 01 May 11 12:27 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out what happened to an Irish Imigrant family - they fall off radar after 1876.

James (jas) McParland Ironstone Miner) marries Mary Hollowood in Forkhill Co. Armagh 1861

First son Francis born in 1862 baptised at Coatbridge St Patrick's

Then....
Bridget 1866
James 1868
Patrick 1872
Sarah 1874        - all born and bapstised Dalry

1876 Mary dies registered by her Husband in Dalry

Then...NOTHING, not a sausage, until 1890 when Francis marries in Broxburn. I can find no trace of the others.

I have scoured the 1881 census for any of them. Francis seems to have settled on 'McFarlane' but I have tried McParlan/lin/lane/land/Carlane/lin/land/Farlane/ling/land/Mac - ad infinitum
They just have vanished. Would really appreciate any pointers or help thank you.

Hello All,

Just been stung by rootsireland (5 euros to tell me what I already knew! >:()

I told it - Marriage 1861 Forkhill RC - Mary Hollywood, James McFarlane

it told me - Marriage 12 DEC Forkhill RC - Mary Hollowood, Jas McParland
husbands father McParland, wifes father Hollowood (I'd never have guessed!)

Don't suppose a kind soul might take pity on me and flesh this out a bit for me? Please?

Ok so I am looking for James McFarlane although just to be helpful he went by the name Joseph! >:(
According to the IGI married in 1937 to Kathleen A Tidy (who helpfully called herself Annie) in Woolwich - this seems to fit with family account only one small problem The GRO don't have the record! >:(
Can anyone do an electoral roll look up for me between 1937 to 1941 for that name in Woolwich area?
I know the detail is as flimsy as anything but it is truely all I have!
I don't know where or when he was born, or how old he was when he died all I do know is he died in a Military Hospital (of which there were many) in the late 50's early 60's

Any help would be fantastic.

Berkshire / McFarlane died 1969 - need to trace
« on: Thursday 24 March 11 00:01 GMT (UK)  »
Hope someone can help. I am trying to trace my Father's (Brian McFarlane) Brother, he knew him as Michael McFarlane but there is a possibility that his proper name was James T McFarlane. As we understand my Uncle was killed in a shooting accident in about 1969 in Berkshire. My Father and his brother were both born in Woolwich South East London but were seperated when they were evacuated during WWII. I wondered if there might be a newspaper archive I could or someone could search for me - shooting accidents are fairly uncommon and it may just be something that was news worthy. I also know that my Uncle was quite a well known cricketer - possibly playing at county level.
