US Lookup Requests / Anne Brennan (Nee Quinn) New York
« on: Wednesday 12 April 23 21:30 BST (UK)  »
Anne Quinn was the daughter of William Quinn and Mary Houston and was born on 20 November 1868 in Gobnascale, Convoy, County Donegal, Ireland.
She probably arrived in New York with her sister Mary in the late 1890’s. Mary was to marry a James Foy and move to New Jersey.
Anne married a Joseph P. Brennan (It was his second marriage) on 26 April 1904 in Manhattan.
Joseph P. Brennan died on 27 April 1907 in Manhattan.
I cannot find Anne after that? Did she re-marry? Did she stay in New York? Did she die as Anne Brennan?

Would be grateful for any information

William Quinn and Mary Houston had three sons who left Donegal for Scotland and have never been heard from since.

William Quinn
William was born on 15th June 1874 in Meenbane I was told that he was killed by a train in Scotland.

John Quinn
John was born on 8th January 1877 in Lettermakenny. I was told that he and worked as a doorman in Motherwell.

Hugh Quinn
Hugh was born on the 8th September 1882 in Mullinavey. In Census 1901 he was described as an agricultural labourer and still in Ballindrait but by 1911 he had gone.

It was my granduncle Willie born in 1886 who told me about William and John and he never heard of Hugh.

This is all I have and would be grateful for any information.

Lanarkshire / Cameron Shipyard Accident Glasgow 1922
« on: Thursday 10 February 22 22:53 GMT (UK)  »
Isabella Mary Quinn (Bella) who was born in 1887 in Donegal was married to a man called Cameron, who the story goes was killed in a shipyard accident. In October the same year his daughter Margaret Jean was born. They had most likely got married in Scotland.
Bella then returned home to Ireland after the death of her husband.
I would be grateful if anyone could cast any light on this.

Lanarkshire / Maggie Barr from Donegal
« on: Saturday 17 April 21 10:22 BST (UK)  »
Margaret (Maggie) Barr was born on 15 July 1883 in Bauville, Buncrana, County Donegal, her parents were William Barr died 1922 and Mary McGlynn died 1888. In the 1901 Census for Ireland Margaret (Maggie) are still at home in Bauville.

In the 1911 Census for Scotland Maggie was at 23 Balgraybank Street, Springburn, Glasgow. She was staying with her sister Ena (who had married in Springburn in 1907), her family and parents-in-law (Hugh and Mary McAnarney). No occupation was given. Her age was given as 23 years yet she was older. Ena's age was given as 31 years yet she was born in 1876.

A niece of Aunt Ena stayed with her in 1937 and there was no mention of Maggie. I believe she died in Scotland and have no knowledge as to any marriage. As well as Ena who died in 1949 at 587 Edgefauld Road, Springburn, Glasgow; her sister Ellen who died in 1929 was also in Glasgow.

I have no further information on Margaret (Maggie) and would appreciate it if anyone could help to find out what became of her.

United States of America / James Foy and Mary Quinn
« on: Tuesday 16 April 19 18:39 BST (UK)  »
Mary Quinn my great grandaunt was born in 1872 in County Donegal and in 1896 married James Foy also from County Donegal in Manhattan. They settled in Cliffside Park, Bergen, New Jersey. James died in 1921. They had a large family and St John The Baptist was there church. Mary was still resident there in 1940. Subsequent generations have lived in Bergen County. She had a sister Anne who also went to America of which I have no information.
It would be great to hear from any connections.

I would like to know when Mary died and would be grateful for such a lookup.
