I can't read the last couple words in cause of death for Margaret. Apparently, she had been an invalid for 3 years as per her husband John's draft registration in Jan 1917. Since they only married in Feb 1913, she was an invalid for most of the marriage. Thanks for any help.

Lancashire / Annie Moores, marriage Thomas Shawcross, Salford
« on: Saturday 11 September 21 22:50 BST (UK)  »
I believe that Annie Moores married Thomas Shawcross in 1948 in Salford. I do not have the exact date. Annie was still alive when her mother Annie Johnston Brown died in 1960. I don't know when her father Harry Moores died but it was after 1939. Does anyone have any information about this couple?
Thanks for any help

Armagh / Andrew Johnston, born Armagh, abt 1839-1842, father Joseph
« on: Monday 02 August 21 19:33 BST (UK)  »
Andrew Johnston married Nancy Wallace Sept 3, 1860 at the Registrar's Office in Cookstown, his father Joseph, and he was of full  age so born before 1839 if this is true. Age on the 1901 census is 59 so born abt 1841ish. Age at death is 72 in 1912 in the Magherafelt Workhouse so born abt 1840.
Andrew is born Co.Armagh as per 1901 census, carpenter, Baptist, wife Rachel nee Lennox whom he married in 1875.
So Andrew's father was Joseph who could  possibly be born abt 1800. Wondering if Joseph's father could be Andrew. This is a wild guess but I found an Andrew Johnston, born Armagh, who served in the 6th Dragoons, discharged age 43, looks like served 1790-1814 so born 1771ish. Would there be any way to find out more about Andrew who was in the 6th Dragoons?
Thank you

Antrim / John Johnston's niece Rosetta Hurford, her daughters Eleanor and Irene
« on: Thursday 29 July 21 22:13 BST (UK)  »
Today, I received the will of John Johnston who died Feb 12, 1960 in Belfast. In the will, he mentions his wife's niece Rosetta Hurford and her daughters Eleanor and Irene. John's wife was Ellen Meneelly who he married in 1913 in Belfast. Ellen's father Samuel. If I found the correct Ellen, she was born July 12, 1890 in Bangor.
I can't find any of the Hurfords and can't figure out the relationship.  Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks for any help

Lanarkshire / Death of James Watterson 1871-1881 Glasgow
« on: Thursday 22 July 21 18:55 BST (UK)  »
James Watterson, Private 42nd Foot, son of Leonard Watterson and Jane McLaren, married Ann Nelson Jan 29, 1869 in Glasgow. They had a daughter Helen Elizabeth Oct 14, 1870 in Glasgow. On the 1871 census, Ann, a staymaker says she is married though James is not with her. Her daughter Helen aka Ellen is with her, also her nephew Thomas Nielson/Nelson age 8. In 1881, Ann says she is a widow, and is still  living with Ellen and nephew Thomas. I have never found the death of James. In 1890, Ellen/Helen dies, and she says her father James, soldier, is deceased. Witness is her cousin Thomas.
I have never found the birth of James either, abt 1838 in Scotland, likely Glasgow, or his brother David abt 1836, brother William abt 1841 or his younger brother Leonard 1851-1853. David and James are on the 1851 census, but William presumably died, and Leonard born after 1851 census.
Did James really die or did he abandon the family?
Thanks for any help.
