The above people are my gr gr gr grandparents.  Their son Charles Green, b 6th July 1828 jumped ship in Nelson, New Zealand around 1848.  Charles had sisters called Mary b 1821, Sarah b 1823, Francis b 1835 and brothers, James b 1830 and George b 1840.  Mary married Charles Clevatt in 1852 but I have no information on the rest of the family.  I would love to hear any information about this family.

I have a death certificate for a Martin Casey, alas, not the one connected to my family. This Martin died at the Tua Marina and was buried in the Omaka Cemetery.  His mother was Norah Casey, nee Tehan, father named as Thomas Casey.  Martin's wife listed as Johannah O'Leary whom he married at age 24 in County Kerry.
I have listed the information on the Kerry site with one reply giving a possible link to Martin's birth information.
I am happy to send a copy of the certificate to any descendants.

Hi,  I would love to know what is on the gravestone of Samuel Beresford, died 1854, named on the board at the Pioneer Park.  He died suddenly, 24th December and cause of death was 'a visitation of God' as no other cause was noted.

Selkirkshire / Where to find Galashiels inquest info, 1860
« on: Tuesday 19 June 12 09:40 BST (UK)  »
I am hoping that our William Brown who died unexpectedly in Galashiels in December 1860 would have had an inquest and/or a newspaper mention.  In his Probate/Will document, July 1861 it says that he died 'at Galashiels on or about (then there is a gap) day of December'.  It reads as though he was discovered dead some days later; he would have been around 51 years of age.  His family lived in the Isle of Sky, see earlier post re gravestone.

Selkirkshire / William Brown, died December 1860, ? local gravestone
« on: Friday 08 June 12 04:11 BST (UK)  »
I have just received a copy of the probate re William Brown and although he was a resident of the Island of Skye, he died 'at Galashiels in or about........day of December 1860'.  He was born in ?Selkirk, c 1809 so he could have been visiting relatives and/or droving sheep to that area though in December you would wonder about any long distance travel.
In the past I have not been able to find a gravestone in Skye and I am now wondering whether he would have been buried in the Galashiel area.
His wife was a Margaret Davidson, b 1808, Dumfriess and their son Christopher, my gr grandfather came to NZ in 1873.
Has anyone seen a gravestone re this man from Skye?

Cumberland / The Couzen family, around Carlisle
« on: Wednesday 16 May 12 00:02 BST (UK)  »
I think the Andrew Turner who married Ethel Cousens in the first quarter of 1915 was my grandfather's brother.  He was born in 1884 in Dunfermline and his parents  were Andrew and Grace Turner.  Andrew was in the Merchant Navy for most of his life and in 1919 his wife Ethel was listed as living in Dunfermline; in 1941 the address of 31 Treeside Road, Southampton is given on a crew list.
I would love some confirmation that I have the right Andrew.
