Somerset Lookup Requests / Burial look up - Long Ashton Registration District
« on: Thursday 16 March 17 21:36 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to research Henry LIMBERT born in about 1882/4. I have the details of a death registration which may be the Henry I am looking for and wondered if anyone has access to any of the parish registers for the parishes within the Long Ashton registration district that would be willing to look him up and give me any information recorded for the burial which may help me work out if I have the right Henry.

His death is registered in the Dec quarter of 1917 and his age at death is given as 35. I have ordered the certificate, but am trying to write an article about him and his brothers for our village newsletter and am up against a deadline so would love to know if I have the right person as soon as possible! I'm not supposed to be writing about Henry, I am supposed to be focusing on another brother, but the more I found out the more I felt that all their stories needed to be told.

The parishes which apparently fall in this registration district are: Abbots Leigh, Backwell, Barrow Gurney, Bishopsworth, Brockley, Clapton, Clevedon, Dundry, Easton in Gordano, Flax Bourton, Kenn,
Kingston Seymour, Long Ashton, Nailsea, North Weston, Portbury, Portishead, Tickenham, Walton in Gordano, Weston in Gordano, Winford, Wraxall, Yatton

Thank you, thank you, thank you to anyone that is able to help!

Europe / What records should I look at? Austrian/Italian WW2 bride.
« on: Tuesday 30 March 10 14:55 BST (UK)  »
My grandmother was born in Italy, but moved to Austria where her mother's family were from at some point during WW2. Whilst there she must have met my English grandfather whilst he was there for the war and they married in Austria in Jan 1947. She came over to Britain to live.

I do not know what records I should be consulting, if there are any. I have a copy of their marriage certificate but wish I knew more about when they came to England, would they have travelled together? I also wish I knew how they actually met but I very much doubt that info will be out there for me to find!

Does anyone have any suggestions of records I could consult to see if I can find any more information. Unfortunately both of them died when I was a very young child so I cannot ask them anything. I am happy to look at anything/everything if there is a possibility of even a small snippet!

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Armed Forces / Lookup request Chelsea Pensioners
« on: Tuesday 30 March 10 13:41 BST (UK)  »
Having seen this info is now available, I have found a couple of distant relatives on there. I would really like to see what information is provided about them, but because they are not direct line I can't really afford it (as I have a subscription to the other site!). If anyone would be willing to look up two individuals for me I would greatly appreciate it. They are Harry Pollard, year of birth 1878, place of birth Bicester Oxfordshire, and James Pollard, yob 1868, same birth place. If they are who I believe them to be they are brothers (and one of their younger brothers is in my direct line). Many thanks for reading this and for any help given.

US Completed Requests / *Completed* Passenger lists lookup request
« on: Thursday 31 December 09 20:44 GMT (UK)  »
Is there someone that would be willing to look and see if three names appear in the passenger lists to the USA? They would probably have travelled within a few years of the end of WW2. I am hesitant to post names on here as I know one is still living so if anyone would be willing to look up these names for me could you please let me know and I will send a private message with the names and country and date of birth. Many thanks in advance.

The Common Room / Surname assigned to illegitimate child
« on: Wednesday 16 December 09 21:48 GMT (UK)  »
I have a birth certificate for a baby girl named Jane, there is no surname given in the 'name' box. The names of both the father and mother are given on the birth certificate (different surnames obviously).

The girl was baptised with the mothers surname, and appears to use this surname on all census records and her marriage certificate. However, the birth certificate was indexed by assigning the fathers surname to the child. The certificate is dated 1839.

I'm confused as to what name to enter into my family tree! Which surname is officially the correct surname that should be used for the child in this case?

United States of America / WW2 American Forces Marriages - where to look?
« on: Friday 03 July 09 10:14 BST (UK)  »
I have a relative that married an American after WW2. I would like to try and locate their marriage record (and any other records relating to this if there are any others) but I do not know where to look. A google search has proved fruitless so far. Is there any where that has these records online? If not, is there any way to go about looking for the records by post/email/phone? Any suggestions would be appreciated as I am obviously not looking in the right places if it is available. Many thanks in advance.
