Yorkshire (West Riding) / Alice Beaumont - Double Birth Registration
« on: Saturday 07 March 20 21:49 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all
I have a bit of a puzzle here - Alice Beaumont was born on 8 April 1850 in Halifax and the birth was registered on 11 May 1850.
Alice was then baptised on 30 January 1851 along with her sister Ann Elizabeth in Halifax.
I then have another birth registration for Alice, the same family, born on 16 November 1851, but the birth was not registered until 19 April 1852.
Common sense would tell me that the first Alice died young, but I have not been able to find a death for her at all.  I have the birth certificates for both of these 'Alice's'
Just to add to the confusion, I have never found a birth certificate for their brother John Armitage Beaumont who was baptised on 4/5/1852 in Halifax, and his birth is listed as 16 November 1851, the same as this second Alice!

I would be grateful if anyone has any ideas on this one!!
Many thanks

World War Two / prisoner of war death entry Poland
« on: Wednesday 04 December 19 21:12 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone
A great uncle of mine died in a Polish prisoner of war camp during WW2  and is buried in Poznen.
I am curious to know if he would have a death certificate recorded anywhere, as I would love to know which POW camp he was in.
Many thanks

The Common Room / Find My Past - How to save records?
« on: Sunday 01 September 19 13:18 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone
I tend to dip in and out of research when time allows, and as such, dip in and out of membership of the two main research sites.
I have now found that when I am not a member of 'Find My Past' I cannot access records that I have viewed in the past.
This is very frustrating, as I have a lot of interesting finds on there, and other than printing them all out, I dont see another way of viewing them unless I have continuous membership!
Would be grateful if anyone could advise on this one
Many thanks

World War Two / Home Guard Records
« on: Tuesday 09 July 19 19:25 BST (UK)  »
Has anybody had any experience with sending off for Home Guard records?
I sent my application form away at the end of May and haven't heard anything yet, so wondered if this was a usual time scale, or if I should be writing to them again.
I enclosed the 30 cheque, and to my knowledge this hasn't been cashed either.
Would be grateful for advice.

Kent / Stanford School, Nr Folkestone
« on: Wednesday 09 January 19 20:40 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Everyone
My Grandmother was born in 1896 in Charing, and the family moved to Postling around 1907/8, and she attended the school in nearby Stanford, along with two of her sisters.
I just wondered if anybody here had ancestors who also went to Stanford school during this time, as I would really like to make contact with you to discuss any family stories/history around their ancestors time at the school.
Many thanks

Kent / School in Westwell
« on: Monday 22 October 18 16:02 BST (UK)  »
Just wondering if anybody has in their possession a picture of the school in Westwell - I know my Grandmother was there in 1904, and I have been told that there is a school house there, but would love to see an old picture of the school just to visualise what it looked like and where it was.

I wonder if anybody would be able to help me - I am trying to locate the grave of BESSIE EMILY CHITTENDEN,  who died  in 1993, and is buried in Battle.
I would love to see a photograph of her grave if anybody could help out with that.

Many thanks

Technical Help / Samsung Hi Fi with no headphone socket
« on: Saturday 28 October 17 19:04 BST (UK)  »
Evening everyone
I have a Samsung hi fi which I have had for about five years now, but it does not have a headphone socket. It does have a button which comes up on the display as Bluetooth ready so I bought a pair of wireless Bluetooth headphones but cannot seem to link them at all.
Is it something I'm not doing, or is it unlikely that I would be able to use them?
Sorry, I am dealing with something that I don't understand, just would love to be able to use headphones with my hi fi !
