Aberdeenshire / Strathdon church photographs
« on: Monday 29 October 12 00:31 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,
I recently visited Strathdon Parish Church and graveyard, where some of my Forbes ancestors are buried, but unfortunately the church itself was locked up and there was no one about to ask about access :( I believe that the interior is quite impressive, and that there are a number of plaques on the walls relating to members of the Forbes family. Is there any member who lives in or near Strathdon who could possibly visit the church when it's open and take photographs of the plaques for me please?  Sadly I'm now back home in Australia, and am not sure when I'll get back there again! Cheers,
Jo

Berkshire Lookup Requests / Newbury St Nicolas BERRY
« on: Tuesday 10 May 11 05:09 BST (UK)  »
Hello, I am wondering if anyone in Reading could possibly look for a baptism for a Maria BERRY in Newbury Berkshire around 1818 please?  in the 1851 Census Maria, who by then was Maria Noble, is said to come from Newbury, and her older sister Jane was baptised at St Nicholas Newbury on 12 Nov 1815.  I am really trying to find out their mother Elizabeth/Betsy's maiden name, as unfortunately it isn't provided in Jane's baptism details.  Elizabeth/Betsy, born in Newbury about 1776 (age given as 65 in 1841 census), married William Berry, possibly also in Newbury, but I can't pin down their marriage either, especially without the wife's surname.

I am looking for connections to a George Byles/Biles, who first married Elizabeth Norris in St Marys Southampton in 1789 and subsequently married Catharine Greenway or Greenaway in All Saints Southampton in 1792.  Son of first marriage was George Biles born 1790, and children of the second marriage were Harriet 1793, George William 1795, Charles James 1798 and Catharine 1801.

Hello, I  am looking for a birth around 1770-details provided in the casualty return which records his death in the Peninsular Wars in 1812, in the 2/44th Regiment of Foot.  Are relevant parish records available or should I order them in from the LDS?
