Hi all

Been a while since i have done any research but have got back into it ..... sort of. At the moment i have been asked by the local council to research my house so i can get something put in the archives. I have a copy of the certificate of titles but not sure what i can do next.
I live in the Lake Macquarie Council area in New South Wales Australia.
Any suggestions i can get would be appreciated.....online if possible.

Thanks

Australia / Will Copy - Victoria

Hi

Is it possible for someone with access to the Victorian probate index to check if there is an entry for a Isabella Grant who died in 1916 or a Peter Grant who died in 1911. Have a vague feeling that a relative told me that one of these people made a will but am not sure. If there is an entry could someone tell me how to go about ordering a copy of the will sent to me...... I live a couple of hours north of Sydney and its a bit of a drive to Victoria  :)

Any information would be appreciated.

Hi

Have recently received the death certificate for my aunt and it lists the place of residence as "Golbrok" Hazelgrove. Have googled and came up with nothing on the Golbrok part. Does anyone have any knowledge of this place?

Thanks

Hi

Could anyone with access to the Sydney Morning Herald please get me a copy of the following notice.

Violet Mignon Hall
Death Notice
Published 15 September 1978 according to the Ryerson Index

Due to work and family commitments I am unable to visit my library to have a look for myself for a couple of months and my supply of patience is running out .... lol

Jaki

PS With the middle name of Mignon it just has to be my great aunt.

The Common Room / Confused

My problem:

Two Henry Hirst born within one month of each other.

Both with father George.

Have the birth certificate for my Henry .... Henry James Winter Hirst. Made a guess when I ordered this as the maiden name of the mother was Winter. So know definite date of birth.

Have traced the older Henry (who is not mine) through the census to 1871.

Have traced my Henry through the census to definitely 1861 and maybe 1871.

Have found a Henry J Hirst married to a Laura in the 1881 census.

My question is do you think I can say that this 1881 Henry is mine before I confirm the marriage with the certificate?  ??? .... keeping in mind that both of them had a father with the name of George.

Hi

Am getting back into my research after a few months off to study. Thought I would look at my father's side and try to find out why the sister of my great grandmother's husband is living with them in the 1851 census. Have discovered two possible death entries for his parents on freebmd in the September Quarter 1842 (both on the same page). I know I wont know for sure if the entries are for these people without buying the certificates but am wondering if anyone is aware of anything that was happening around this time in this area of Northumberland. Have tried to google but am not sure what terms to use in the search.

Thanks

After much lurking about and reading the messages on the boards as i seem to have come to a standstill with my family research I decided to try and find out more about where my father was born.

He was born at the place in the subject of my message. Any searching I do on the net just comes up with information on the Boer War.

I want to be able to:
* make a list of who lived there from the time it began and have a basic history of these people
* find out how many houses made up the settlement
etc

On the offchance that someone on this site had family in the settlement and can help with information it will be gratefully received.

Suggestions on where to start would also be appreciated.

I still live in this area so do not have far to travel to find things.

Hi

Have looked on both familysearch and ancestry for the following family in the 1881 census and have not been able to see them.

Herst, Henry   abt 1851
Herst, Frances   abt 1852
Herst, Charlotte A   abt 1877
Herst, Joseph   abt 1880

All born Barnsley.

At various times I have found members of my Hirst family under Hirst/Herst/Hurst.

Have this family in the 1891 and 1901 census and in both they are living in Barnsley.

If you feel like a challenge finding this family in the 1881 census is for you. If you could find them I would be appreciate it.

Thanks

Jaki
