Family History Beginners Board / Shipping Lists UK, Australia, and NZ
« on: Wednesday 01 June 11 06:30 BST (UK)  »
Hi  -  I wish to print/copy details of information regarding my great, great grandfather - Frederick Linsey Flint. Born in London around 1830 and travelled to Victoria, Australia in 1852.
Firstly I wish to print documents of his travel to Australia in October 1852. He travelled on a ship called the "Holyrood". I want to access this passenger list on the internet but so far I can't find it on the net.

Secondly I wish to find out when my great grandfather, Thomas Edward Flint travelled to New Zealand from Australia - approx 1862 to 1866? I want to access the ship he travellled on plus the passenger list. So far I had no luck with this. Thomas Edward Flint was born in Melbourne in 1859/60. He is the son of Frederick Linsey Flint.
Websites for passenger lists to NZ would be great.

Many thanks for all information received and much appreciated.

Cheers,

Family History Beginners Board / BDM - UK
« on: Wednesday 01 June 11 06:08 BST (UK)  »
Hi - Are there any good websites to access BDM's (no fees attached) for seeking family members in either Australia or United Kingdom?

I live in New Zealand and am trying to trace family back to Australia and England.
Years I'm interested in are between 1825 to 1890.

Cheers,

Family History Beginners Board / Flint Family - Richmond, Australia
« on: Saturday 28 May 11 07:56 BST (UK)  »
hello :) - I'm a new member of rootschat. I currently live in Christchurch, New Zealand.

I am trying very hard to trace information (BDM) re my great, great grandfather. I understand he travelled to Australia from England somewhere between 1848 to 1858. He settled in Richmond, Australia. His name was Frederick Linsey Flint and was born around 1830?? in England - I don't know where in England.
I do know he appears in the book - "a history of Hawthorn" australia on pages 47 and 48 although I don't have a copy of this book. Information on these pages would be helpful so I'm crossing my fingers that someone can help.
I think his name has been handed down throughout the generations in Australia.

Frederick Linsey Flint's son, Thomas Edward (my great g/f) ended up in New Zealand and his BDM history confirmed. I know Thomas Edward was born in Melbourne in 1860. The puzzle here is that Thomas Edward was around 5 years of age when he went to NZ (around 1865) but there's no history of Frederick Linsey Flint or his wife in New Zealand. I can't imagine a 5 year old taking a sole journey to NZ.  ???

Anyway my prime objective is to gather info on Frederick Linsey Flint from the book first and then work hard to trace his BDM. This is where my family tree has halted.

Cheers,

Cantoncool  :)
