The Common Room / Konrad Emmanuel Wikman from Finland
« on: Friday 10 January 25 14:46 GMT (UK)  »
Konrad Emmanuel Wikman was born in Finland on 13 Dec 1872 and died in Llangollen in 1958.

He married Gertrude Marion Rastall (nee Dennick) on 21 Dec 1918 in Pontfadog.  Her first husband was KIA in WW1. Konrad is shown as a sailor on the marriage certificate and his father Edward Emmanuel Wikman (deceased) was a customs officer.

In 1939 Konrad and Gertrude are living in Llangollen and he is a labourer.

I have failed to find either of them on the 1921 census.

I would like to find out how and when he arrived in Britain and anything about his parents (possibly from Finland too).

Any help appreciated, as always.

Many thanks in advance

Xx

Cheshire / Nancy Iris Prestidge
« on: Thursday 07 November 24 18:06 GMT (UK)  »
Would anyone like to help me find Nancy Iris Prestidge please?

She was born in Northamptonshire on 12 Aug 1918 to Fred and Hannah.

In 1921 she was with her family in Bulford Camp Salisbury Plain

In 1939 she was living with her mother’s sister Alice Minshull and family at 18 Eaton Road Chester, working as a bar maid Waitress.

I cannot find what happened to her since then.  I have tried many combinations of her surname.

Many thanks in advance

I have a note on the record of Muriel Agnes Evans born Llanfyllin in 1895 showing she travelled from Brest to Boston in June 1919.  I can’t find any supporting documents to show where I got this info.  I wonder if anyone can help please?

I have no info to show her leaving the Uk for France or any record of her whereabouts in WW1. I presume there is a link here

Thank you in advance.

She died 24 March 1931 and is buried at the Grand Lawn Cemetery, Detroit.

4 children of John Barton Brooker b.1837 were born in Constantinople between 1870 & 1876.  I would like to find records showing John leaving Britain & returning.  It is possible that the family didnt arrive in Britain until after 1881.

I am assuming John was in the army????? If he was, can anyone suggest where I start to look for these records please?

Many thanks

Cornwall / Mining Accident
« on: Saturday 30 October 21 11:27 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am looking for any info about a mining accident in St Ewe, Cornwall in February 1821.  In particular Joseph Dyer who was killed there.  He was buried 3 February 1821.

I learned that he died in a mining accident from a note made on his son John's baptism record which was in September 1821.

Many thanks
