Family History Beginners Board / Query on Occupation on Death Certificate? 1864
« on: Thursday 07 January 21 16:47 GMT (UK)  »
My 3x GGrandmother Hannah Procter nee May, died in 1864 of 'Softening of the brain, Paralysis, 12 months Certified'.
Her husband Thomas George Procter all through his life, on his marriage certificate and every census his occupation is 'Veterinary Surgeon'.
So any thoughts on why on his wife's death certificate his occupation is 'Farrier'?

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Glass Plate photo of unknown relative
« on: Monday 14 December 20 11:11 GMT (UK)  »
This is a photo on a glass plate, depending on what age you may think it is will give me a fairly good idea of who it might be, as I have a group of photos that were kept in a box so I know which family they belong to. The 2nd pic is the back.
also
what is the best way to look after it? Could I get a 'photo copy' from it?
Thank you

Family History Beginners Board / query on a Marriage certificate
« on: Monday 30 November 20 16:44 GMT (UK)  »
My 3x GGrandfather Thomas George Procter marries in 1852, I have marriage cert which states that his father(William Procter)is a Master Mariner.
Yet on the 1851 census his Williams wife is down as a widow and yes I am certain I have the right person.
So have they forgotten to add 'deceased' to the marriage certificate? Flippin nuisance if they have  >:(

Do you think this is the same person in different years? I am not sure, possibly father and son?

Approximate date please which hopefully confirm this is actually Elizabeth.

My Godmother Wendy Stewart-Hess nee Skyrme died many years ago, I have Lasting Power of Attorney for her husband. When he went into a care home I found a box of goodies which I believe is related to the SKYRME family somehow although all the above names have links. I have asked her niece if she wants these but as her mum has also died she has no interest if she does not know who they are as she has no one to ask.

The box contains 2 little bibles, inside one it says 'To Maggie with love from Jack  dated 25th Dec 15'  inside the other 'For my dear daughter Jasmine on the day of her confirmation April 3rd 1925 at All Saints Church Beardsen'.

Also the most fantastic little album of old photographs (33) I have ever seen. The photographers on the back of some of the photos are WH Geddes & Son, Arbroathe, A & G Taylor, Swansea, Henry A Chapmen, Swansea, Richard Stuart Browns, Edinburgh.James G Godwin, Hereford to name just a few.

There is also a marriage certificate for  Andrew Deeprose to Minnie Rose Tarrant  (02.12.1888) Parish of Portsea Southampton.

Death Certificate for Dorothy Louise Skyrme (DOB 29th Oct 1904-Portsmouth) nee Lang.

A copy of my godmothers marriage certificate. Wendy Skyrme (7th Oct 1967)

If your recognise any of these names please can you let me know so I can send them on to the right person/people.

Thanks for reading
