I have a James Osborne born in 1888 in Cinderhill, Sedgley father was Alfred born 1861 Mom was Emma Parker born 1862, I have him until 1911 when he is living in Hurst Hill with his father and brother and working in the steelworks, he possibly goes to Northumberland and married an Anna Bell but cannot find proof, reputed to have returned to Sedgley area but cannot find him in the 1939 census, has siblings which I have tracked down: Annie, William, Harriet, Susan and Hilda family suggest he was in Sedgley in 1942 for a family wedding but no concrete proof after 1911 census, there are James Osborne's in Northumberland but cannot tie them back to Sedgley, any help appreciated.

Staffordshire / Bird in Hand, High St, Bilston
« on: Wednesday 01 November 23 12:51 GMT (UK)  »
I have on the 1851 census a Joseph Fletcher aged 50 running this pub with his wife Charlotte and a son William aged 1 amongst others, but in the 1861 census I still have Charlotte now 43 and William 12 but Charlotte now has the surname Cadman as the wife of James Cadman who is now a miner / victualler, in the 1871 census same pub but now run by Charlotte a widow (victualler) and William (inn keeper) also a grand daughter Charlotte Jeavons.
Given it is the same address 37 High St, Bilston I presume (should never presume i know) that Joseph Fletcher died and his wife re marries James Cadman but cannot find where or when.
Any ideas please..

I have a Harry Douglas Thorp born 1901 in Enfield, Middlesex, living in 1960 in Oxford Road, Enfield, goes to Saunton in Devon on holiday has a heart attack and is taken to Barnstable Hospital where he is confirmed dead, death certificate issued 3rd September 1960 signed by his wife Daisy, place of death given as ‘Ashmead’ Saunton, Braunton, he was not returned to London so was buried in the area, the local Crematorium had not been constructed when he died, no record of him in Barnstable Cemetry, Braunton Parish Church has no record of him, looks as though he was returned to ‘Ashmead’ which has since been demolished due to subsidence but have failed to find his final resting place, he was a member of a Masonic lodge back in London so not particularly religious although his family had Methodist leanings, any help appreciated..

The Common Room / best site for actual records
« on: Wednesday 23 February 22 19:56 GMT (UK)  »
I wonder if you could give me some advice as to which websites you consider are best at providing original records from which I can usually gleen more info, My Heritage seems to have plenty of transcripts but not many original records for instance looked at 3 people tonight on My Heritage where the 1939 census was there but not in its original form just a transcription, lots of Family search records also do not have the original records to back up the information ditto with Ancestry I like to see the full records to see if there is any further information and also to confirm that the facts stated are correct, any advice please..
