« on: Sunday 12 January 14 06:54 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All, I am trying to find resourses for the british army that were stationed in NSW for the above years.Story has it that a John Flood born in Dublin ran away and tried to join the British army was found and returned to his family, on his second time changed his name , story again to Cahill. He is said to of fought in the wars of Watangi in NZ, then to Aust and was a guard on Pinchgut. He was not listed as still being in the army in 1852 when he married. Any help to point me in the right direction would be a great help.

Westmeath / Flood Children
« on: Friday 04 May 12 12:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi All,
I am trying to locate info on an Ellen Flood transported on the Elizabeth to NSW Australia in 1828. She is stated as being a widow with 3 children, aged 33yrs. The children did not go to NSW with her.
Where would the children go to,orphanages or workhouses. John was born about 1820,so would of been about 8yrs when she was transported.
Trying to link one of these children as being my gggrandfather. John and Martin are possible names for  2 boys, as they both were married in Sydney NSW in 1852 at St Mary's Cathedral Sydney. John and his wife Mary Ann were the witness to Martin's marriage to a Bridget ?.
On John's death cert it states born in the County of Westhmeath. No parents listed.
Can anybody help with early records of possible marriage or births for these people, or a link to search?
Thanks Natalie
