Looking for information on John McDermid and his wife Mary who are living in Bundaloch, Kintail in the 1861 census.   John and Mary were both born in Ireland.  They had a son Francis (born Glasgow 1837) who married Christian/Christie McRae (her father was Donald McRae, soldier and mother Margaret McRae ms McRae).  Francis and Christian are in Kintail in 1861 census, 1871 census Christian is with her son Donald and daughter Mary, no sign of Francis.  However, I found him in the poor house in Glasgow in 1874 and he died there in 1879.  On his death certificate he is down as single.  Ring any bells with anyone?

I am trying to locate my Grandfather Neil MacKay (born 1870) in the 1901 census.  Neil came to the Mainland from the island of Harris between 1891 and 1901 with his brothers Murdo and Norman.  I can find Murdo in the 1901 census in Scotlands People but not Neil .  I have tried all spellings of his name.   Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi

I cannot find my grandfather Neil MacKay in the 1901 census.  I have him in the 1871, 1881, 1891 all living on the Isle of Harris where he was born.  He came to mainland Scotland with his two brothers Murdo and Norman, in 1901 Murdo is on the mainland and Norman still in Harris but no sign of Neil.  I have tried all spellings of his name on Scotlands People including using the wild card.  Anyone any suggestions on where I go from here?

Many thanks

Any Royan's out there, if so please get in touch.  I have extensive information on this family.   I am a descendant from Alexander Royan and Mary Macdonald (my great, great grandparents).  Alexander Royan was born Boharm, Morayshire 1 February 1825, Mary Macdonald was born Dornoch around 1830.  Alexander and Mary married 21 November 1850 in Golspie.  Many of Alexander and Mary's descendants emigrated to Canada, America and Australia.
