Family History Beginners Board / James Buxton -Donald Carlo
« on: Wednesday 04 May 16 23:38 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for information on each or either of these two men and also James Buxton's 2 daughters with Eleanor Findley.
Donald Carlo married Eleanor on the 23/05/1894 in Coonamble on her 17th birthday...he was 47 ! however when her first child, Rosina BUXTON was born in 1898 she was  with a James Buxton.
Her second child Florence Rhoda Buxton was born in 1902 in Victoria. Eleanor also had a 3rd daughter, Hannah.
She variously used the surnames Findley/Carlo/Buxton and she swapped the fathers Christian names of Donald/James/ Robert when she registered various births...her 4th child, Ada May Buxton eventually ended up being called Bonnie Foster as she took the 2 year old Ada with her when she left James Buxton circa 1909 and took up with a George Foster leaving behind her older 3 daughters. Hannah was fostered by the Seber family and has been traced but I was wondering what became of Rosina and Florence who where still quite young (under 12 years).
Because Eleanor was so 'creative' with the names of her children's fathers ect (although they all appear to have been James Buxton's off spring) they have not been able to be trace. Apparently  Hannah, as an adult,  knew nothing about either of her parents or her siblings .

Angus (Forfarshire) / Robert Findley/Findlay
« on: Friday 22 April 16 03:12 BST (UK)  »
I have been told that there is a Robert Findlay, aged 7 years born in 1844 in Forfarshire on the 1851 census , ( apparently there are several but this one would fit with my 'brick wall' ancestors purported birth year and place)..to establish that it is him I need to see his parents name/s...Im looking for Robert and Jane Findley nee Hale/s , Robert is a sailor or seaman,to make this the person I am seeking info on....I've been told that I will need to sight the original census to establish this but don't know how to go about this short of a trip to Scotland( not happening ).
Any help would be so appreciated.

Canada / Murray/Stanners
« on: Wednesday 04 November 15 01:31 GMT (UK)  »
I am not sure if I have requested this before, many apologies if I have:
I am trying to learn about my grandfathers 2 half siblings who were sent to Canada from Australia in 1922 to live with their paternal aunt and her husband after they were orphaned:
They were Jeanne McIntosh Stanners and Douglas John Stanners. They arrived in Canada on 19th Aug: 1922 aboard the S.S.Mashura (or Mathura) aged just 9 and 8 respectively. They were going to live with their Aunt Annie Murray nee Stanners and her husband James (Jim) Murray, at 411 Morely Ave Winnipeg. I don't know who they travelled there with though.
I have traced their adult years fairly well but I am interested in what they were doing and where they were living between their arrival in 1922 until about the start of WW2 where Douglas enlists in 1940.I can trace him pretty well after that date and also Jeanne from about that time too.
School records/employment/residences/electoral rolls ..anything and everything between 1922 and 1940 would be of great interest to me.

Australia / 22 Draper Street Albert PARK IN THE 1920'S
« on: Sunday 01 November 15 03:04 GMT (UK)  »
I want to confirm that a (now deceased) ancestor of mine resided at the address of 22 Draper street Albert Park (aka Port Melbourne) in the 1920's.Normally the electoral roll would solve this issue however in 1920 this ancestor, Ruby Hickey ,was only 13 and recently orphaned in NSW making her far too young to be on the electoral roll.I know that she went to Victoria with her sister Hilda Alma May Hickey ( aged about18) in 1920 because their maternal grandparents lived at Draper street, however I don't know if they took young Ruby and Hilda in...Her sister Hilda took up residence with a local  religious order in 1921 and spent the rest of her life with them. Ruby emerges as living in the Albert Park area in Ireland st and Peel st from the 1960's until her death in 1980. Where would I look to find information on her whereabouts between 1920 and 1930-ish when she would have attained adulthood.
I don't know if ,in those times, she would have even been still at school or not.
Any tips greatly appreciated

Australia / Robert and Kate Chiney nee Peart
« on: Tuesday 27 October 15 03:24 GMT (UK)  »
A very kind Roots chatter has helped me with finding the 1905 marriage in Victoria Australia of Robert Chiney to Kate Peart, to confirm that this is the correct Kate Chiney nee Peart I am looking for I need to establish  her parents names and/or her death date...or in fact anything at all about the couple.
Kate Peart was born circa 1884, in Victoria Australia, to parents Thomas and Alice Mary Peart.
I have no other information about her except her birth year...and now her possible spouses name and year of marriage.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Also looking for the death date of her brother, Walton Shaw Peart who was born circa 1889 also in Victoria.

Australia / Peart/Winchcombe...Peart/Paterson....Peart/Wilson (The Peart sisters)
« on: Tuesday 15 September 15 23:53 BST (UK)  »
Looking for any information, or better still, descendants of the following sisters. I have information to swap and share on their other siblings already so more information on these 3 would 'complete the set'  :)
Descendants of these 3 sisters would share  ancestors (great grand parents Thomas and Alice Mary Peart nee Payne) with me
1:  Ruby Elizabeth Peart who married Robert Edwin Winchcombe in 1913, children Robert George B: 1910, Robert Edward B: 1915, Maxwell Thomas B: 1924 and Geoffrey Walton B:1925.
2:ADA MARY PEART who married JAMES ARTHUR WILSON in 1908, children James Arthur B:1908 and Alan Albert B: 1910.
3:LUCY MAY PEART who married HENRY PATERSON in 1912.
Lucy had a son, Francis Clyde Gillin Peart before she married Henry Paterson, this child's father was Charles Edward GILLIN , they were not married and Iam unsure if the child took on his step fathers name of Paterson after his mother married.

Australia / Jennifer Lynne Glenn..Fischer
« on: Saturday 22 August 15 22:30 BST (UK)  »
As I'am in NSW I am hoping that someone in Adelaide may be able to help me with a quite recent death notice in the Adelaide Advertiser that I found listed on the Ryerson Index , but was unable to get a look-up on from them.
I think that this person belongs on my family tree but info in the death and funeral notices would help to confirm it.
She was Jennifer Lynne Glenn (it also said 'see Fischer') and apparently she passed away on 29th May 2015.Her death notice was in the Adelaide Advertiser on the 3rd June and the funeral notice was in the same paper on the 6th June.
Any advice or info would be much appreciated.

US Lookup Requests / William Henry Harrison Wells
« on: Monday 25 May 15 00:30 BST (UK)  »
I have just learned that William Henry Harrison Wells..my family history 'mystery man' was born in Hillsborough Ohio somewhere between 1830-36.
Mother's name Abigail..(no surname )and fathers name Wells (no Christian name).
All we have here in Australia is his 1868 marriage to Mary Werry.
How do I get more information on my American great great grandfather who was, I believe, of African-American heritage?
I have asked before this but could not, until now, say where in Ohio he was actually born.

Australia / Mary Elizabeth Wells
« on: Wednesday 20 May 15 23:51 BST (UK)  »
Mary Elizabeth Wells was born 1873 in Victoria to parents William H.H and Mary Wells nee Werry but I cannot locate either a marriage or a death for her...her sister Fanny (Frances) emigrated to New Zealand circa 1909 but the rest of her siblings either died or were married here in Australia and all have been 'located' except for her.
According to her fathers 1902 death certificate she was still alive at that time but I don't know if she was married or where she was living as the death certificate simply lists his children by their Christian name and age and whether living or deceased only. It does not give  marital status/surname ect.
What became of Mary Elizabeth ?
