Gloucestershire / Axbridge Upton?

Hi

Does anyone know where Axbridge Upton is?
Supposedly in Gloucestershire - it is a reference from a census.
Is it perhaps a part of Upton?

Any suggestions welcomed.

Devon Completed Lookup Requests / William BASTIN of Exeter

I'm looking for any help on the birth/baptism of one William BASTIN, as well as his marriage.

From census info I know he was a whitesmith and engineer. I have no record of his baptism, but his birth was c. 1812 in Exeter.

I know he married Elizabeth SHAPLEY around about 1830, but also I have no details of their marriage.

Their known children were:

William John BASTIN - baptised Heavitree 1831
Ellen BASTIN - baptised Heavitree 1834
Elizabeth Anne Shapley BASTIN - baptised Heavitree 1835
Emma BASTIN - born Bristol 1840
Ann BASTIN - bapt Bristol 1841
Charlotte BASTIN - born Swindon 1845

Any help/suggestions appreciated.

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Charles HUNTER of Sheffield

Could anyone help please - I'm looking for the baptism of a Charles HUNTER in Sheffield, around 1794. Parents names are not known.

He was a smith/fender maker/shovel maker during the course of his life in Sheffield and in Doncaster.

He married Mary SHAW, on 3 Nov 1814 in Sheffield.

Sussex Completed Lookup Requests / *COMPLETED* Thomas Miller of Lancing

I wondered if anyone can help me with the following puzzle.

Thomas MILLER bach of Steyning married Mary TAYLOR, widow of Brighton 10 May 1796.

Thomas was buried (I believe) in Lancing, 28 Nov 1821, aged 48, hence born c. 1773.
I've not been able to find his baptism.

Because Mary was a widow at the time of her marriage to Thomas, TAYLOR is not her maiden name. I have not been able to determine details of her first marriage to Mr TAYLOR.

Mary is also buried (I believe) in Lancing, 7 Nov 1839, aged 72, hence born c. 1767.


Could anyone shed any light on

a) Thomas MILLER's baptism c. 1773?
b) Mary's first marriage to Mr TAYLOR, hence revealing her maiden name?

Written as "Bogland" or possibly "Bigland", Monmouthshire in a census entry for place of birth - does this sound like another location in the county?

Family History Beginners Board / Thomas Gardener of Westerham

I'm looking for help on Thomas GARDENER, who married Elizabeth COLEGATE in Hever, Kent on 2 Nov 1795.

Thomas lived in Westerham and was buried there 20 Jan 1839, aged 79, which puts his birth c. 1760.

So far I've had no luck in finding a baptism of Thomas in Westerham or other close by Kent or Sussex parishes.

Any suggestions welcomed.
