Could anybody kindly look me up an entry in the crime registers for my likely ancestor:
Albert Edward Robson, born 1868 in Leeds.  Lived mainly in Doncaster.  There should be criminal entries for him in 1893 at York, series MEP06 and HO140.
I would love to have full details of his misdemeanors.  A carriage trimmer/cabinet maker by trade, his wife Alice died young in 1894 in Doncaster.  Albert himself later went to the city of Buffalo in the USA where he died young in 1902, leaving two daughters in England.
        Many thanks indeed.

US Lookup Requests / Death in Buffalo City 1902
« on: Wednesday 22 August 18 20:26 BST (UK)  »
Help wanted!   My ancestor Albert Edward Robson was born in Leeds, England in 1868, & lived originally in Doncaster town, England.  I have an administration cert in England to say that he "was of the city of Buffalo" and died there 16th March 1902.   The local library there advised me that there was no death certificate found.  Looking for any help: burial, cremation, newspaper record ... anything!   He was a cabinet maker, losing his wife in England in 1894.  His two daughters were his beneficiaries and are not in the England 1901 census, so they may have been with him: Ida Ann Robson aged 9 and Alice May Robson aged 7.  He died intestate.  I have found just one shipping entry for "Mr. A.Robson, passenger 2539, second class cabin, on Cunard steamship Umbria sailing on 9th July 1998 from Liverpool to NY".     Was he killed, died in hospital, whatever?     ANY help or assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike.

Hello out there!   I have Robert Allen as baptised 16/11/1729 at "the parish of Heartissncr, Co. of Suffolk".   What is this parish name likely to be?  My wife's family appear in the Ipswich area. Any clarification much appreciated.  Thanks!    Mike.

World War One / 295 Siege Battery, RGA, WW1
« on: Tuesday 08 December 15 11:46 GMT (UK)  »
For info to past responders and anyone who can assist:  by using British Newspaper indexes, I found a local report re the death of my g/father 80340 Corpl Alfred William Charles, KIA 260917, under X Corps, 39 Division, at Armagh Wood east of Ypres.  He was a signaller, and the report states that he went out under fire to repair some telephone wires when he was hit by a shell and killed instantly ... so now I know the cause of death.
The report says that the family received tributes from his captain, Capt. Wilson, and his C.O. Major Mossop.
I gather that the battery had about 260 personnel, split into two sections?  Would they have had two captains, and Mossop be in overall command of the battery?
Tributes were also received in Hull from Lord Nunburnholme, Colonel Lambert White, and
Colonel Easton.   Any clarification or comments would be welcomed, to add to my knowledge.
Many thanks, Mike.

Could someone kindly help me on army details for an entry in a Hull newspaper dated 290407:
Deaths.  Colour-sergeant Glenton Hood, 2nd Yorkshire Regiment in SOUTH AFRICA, son of the late G & E Hood, 47 Wenlock Street, Hull.  Age 41 years.
My ancestor, he was born in 1866, and married 1889 to Annie Bunton at Stepney, London.
My trial membership of Ancestry/FindMyPast etc were "used up" a few years ago, so ANY detail on him, be it Service number, army record, place of death/circumstances would be greatly appreciated.  Mike.

Lancashire / St Andrews Church, Travis street, Ancoats, Manchester
« on: Sunday 15 March 15 19:27 GMT (UK)  »
The church was demolished in the 20th century.  My gt gt gt grandfather William Charles was buried there in February 1840.   Were the bodies exhumed? The site and a stone cross remain, but an industrial unit is built there with the graveyard concreted over for parking. Were any MIs taken from headstones?  Assistance gratefully appreciated. Thanks.

Lancashire / Taylor/Mulligeeny -- Oldham/Rochdale
« on: Sunday 15 March 15 19:19 GMT (UK)  »
I wondered if there any descendants of these families.  My ancestor, Sarah Charles was born 1858 in Oldham to my gt gt grandmother Caroline Charles.  Sarah married 1880 to Stephen Taylor, both cotton mill employees, and they had several children. I believe their grandchild Annie Taylor was born 1910 in Rochdale and married a David Mulligeeny.  I have a lot of Charles history, and I think some of them still live in Oldham and Huddersfield. My side moved to Hull around 1880.  Would be pleased to hear from anyone!  Thanks.

Lancashire / Sara family
« on: Monday 29 September 14 15:53 BST (UK)  »
I am interested in the Sara family, emanating from Falmouth, Cornwall in the late 1800s, ie Herbert, Herman, Frederick, Myrtle etc.   My connection is with my mother's Cornish  Nicholls and Olive families who moved to Hull and area, where a 91 y/o aunt is still alive. We have some photos and history, but she lost contact decades ago. Would be interested in fleshing out the ones in 20th century; some lived around Manchester, Cheshire, Lincoln.
Many thanks in anticipation.

My ancestor Albert Edward Robson, born 1868 Leeds UK, a railway worker at Doncaster, lost his wife 1894 . He must have emigrated, as he died 16/3/1902 at Buffalo, USA.  I can find no trace of him leaving UK/arriving USA, or census etc etc.  Would really appreciate any information. Many thanks.
