United States of America / Shipping: New Zealand to San Francisco
« on: Thursday 28 February 19 22:26 GMT (UK)  »
I need a shipping report for the arrival of the "Pilgrim" which left Auckland NZ on Nov. 18 1849. With Mr. and Mrs. Scott and child on board. The Pilgrim was at Pitcairn Island on 26th March 1850, so I calculate she arrived in San Francisco May/June of that year.  Mr. and Mrs. Scott were John Scott and his wife Mary Georgina (nee Sampson) Scott and the child was their niece Camilla Beverly Scott Sampson, an early pioneer in Marysville Yuba County, California. Her father was Charles Beverley Sampson, also on the voyage. I have evidence that John, Charles and Camilla were all in Marysville in 1853 but no mention of Mary Georgina. If shipping records of passengers and manifest, or newspaper clippings exist for the Pilgrim, I'd really like to know, or, if MGS died on the voyage.

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / William Henry Sampson
« on: Monday 26 June 17 08:17 BST (UK)  »
I came across a tantalizing crumb from 20 May 1843 - York Herald - York, North Yorkshire, England
which appears to be letter to the editor, written by Gt, gt grandfather William Henry Sampson. Unlike New Zealand early records in news papers which are free, this entry appears to be locked into a subscription process, which wouldn't be cost effective for us.
Are there any kind researchers out there, who wouldn't mind looking this up for me and posting a transcript?
Many thanks

US Lookup Requests / Death record for Arthur Scott
« on: Thursday 04 May 17 13:28 BST (UK)  »
Can any one help me locate date of death for Arthur Scott. He lived in the Oakland area of San Francisco and died sometime between 1970 and was definitely gone prior to August 1980.
His wife's name was Lulu, but do not know if that was short for Louise. She was alive in 1980 when we met her.
Arthur was born in New Zealand on 28 April 1890. he was an engineer and was something to do with Linear Acceleration during his later working years.

New Zealand Completed Requests / Where do you look
« on: Saturday 15 October 11 11:19 BST (UK)  »
Great grandfather Toledo Frankfort Hamilton FIELD was born in Sydney. At least that what it says on his Death certificate. Going by his age at death that would have made his birth year about 1837, yet I cannot find him. His most likely parents were Robert Field and Margaret Drummond who were married in Tasmania on 1 February 1836 and were later recorded as passengers from Hobart to Sydney the same year, so Toledo's birth certain fits here.

Is there anyone out there, who may have been searching the same surname, who has come across this birth anywhere.
