Canada / A Rootschat Database for British Home Children
« on: Friday 20 March 15 20:56 GMT (UK)  »
Very exciting news!

In collaboration with the British Home Child Group International (BHCGI) a database of over 20,000 British Home Children (BHC) compiled by Norah Dennis will be added to the Database for Special Interest Groups - DBSIG.

A few hundred records will be added this weekend, so the BHC admins can test the data and layouts, before the rest of the records. Until the database is fully loaded, the add and edit buttons will be disabled.

Please see Berlin-Bob's thread for more information.

Canada / Who is this boy?
« on: Friday 27 February 15 23:28 GMT (UK)  »
I was searching the 1901 Canadian Census for another home child, and I came across this boy, Ancestry and Automated genealogy seem to have his first and surname mis-transcribed.

Can someone please have a look to see what they think it may be?

This is how is transcribed in the index on Ancestry

Name: Froy Babingaton

Marital Status: Single
Birth Day & Month:19 Jul
Birth Year:1892
Birthplace: England
Relation to Head of House: Oreven boy (Boy)
Immigration Year:1900

Thanks Karen

Canada / Winnipeg Free Press Newspaper
« on: Wednesday 23 April 14 13:00 BST (UK)  »
Hi there,

I am looking for a couple of obituaries that seem to be in the Winnipeg Free Press for the years 1994 and 1988.

Can someone tell me where I can get copies of these on line?  Ancestry has the newspaper, but doesn't seem to have the dates I require.

Thanks for any help!
