This copy was sent to me by a family member.  Apparently, the back is completely blank.

Can someone please help me to narrow down the possibilities of who it might be by giving an approximate date for the photo.  To me, the hat and the dress seem to be from different eras.

Incase it helps, whoever it is, she would have lived in London and had little money.

Can someone please help me to decipher the first name of H. Gifford

I know the second witness is Jane Westall.  Knowing Gifford's first name could be very useful.

These are the witnesses to a 1764 marriage in London.

Another photo that I'd appreciate some help with please.

The girl at the front, on the right, is my nan.  She was born Feb.1887 and baptised Jan.1894

I have no idea who the others in the photo might be, and wondered if this might have been taken at the baptism.  Could it be 1894?

My nan would have been one month short of 7 years old, but I think she looks a little older than that.  She had a brother, born December 1888 (not baptised at the same time) but I think the little boy looks to young to be him.

My nan's mother was born in 1870, so couldn't be the woman who my nan is leaning on.

I'd love to hear someone else's opinions.  Thanks.

Also, do you think that's a hankie on the middle woman's lap?

I'd love to hear some opinions on this please.

The lady on the right is my nan - born 1887.

Her brother was born 1888 and their mother was born 1870.  I wondered if this might be a photo of them.  BUT, nan's brother wasn't in the army.

So, do you think this uniform looks genuine, or could it just be a "prop" hired out by the photographic studio?  Has anyone come across the hiring out of uniforms before?
