HI, found myself stuck .  Sherman Batten married Martha Ross 1772,  he died 1812.  No record of his birth.  There seems to be loads of Battens in Westerleigh.  One of which came up to Edinburgh on 1858 and stayed here.
any help would be much appreciated. thanks  :)
