Caernarvonshire / Putting Names with Ap or Verch into tree
« on: Tuesday 23 January 07 14:07 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone advise the best way to put my Welsh rellies onto my tree programme.

For instance I have a Richard ap Robert John married to Gaenor verch Huw Dafydd.

Should I be putting the Ap Robert John and Verch Huw Dafydd in the surname section or the Ap and Verch in the middle name or first name?

Have been doing this for a while now and am only just getting to grips with the patronymics side of things.

Thanks in advance.

Caernarvonshire / Llanberis Cemeteries
« on: Monday 19 June 06 20:48 BST (UK)  »
Would anyone know how many cemeteries there are for Llanberis?

Have considered purchasing the MI's for Nant Peris but would they be in Welsh?

Still chasing down my Morris, Jones and now added Williams/Humphrey to the list.

Can't even find a decent website on the village - any pointers gratefully received, am now on the verge of taking a little trip to have a look for myself - the families were at Coed Mawr for forty odd years so there has to be some trace of them!

Thanks for your time.

A totally fed up  Angie :'(

Completed Census Requests / 1841 Census - Llanddeiniolen - Complete - Found my disks
« on: Tuesday 28 February 06 13:34 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for a Robert Roberts (shoemaker) and his wife Jane hopefully at Deiniol Terrace (looks like these people adopted my Gr Gr Grandad Henry Morris from Llanberis, he's with them in 1851).

I found a snippet on the Rhagoral on-line catalogue for Robert Roberts in 1842 with his address as above.  Would anyone know how the catalogue works?  Can I get a copy of the lease that's mentioned?

Could SKS see if they can locate the following family for me on 1841 cenus please, found the family in 1851 on  Prescot Road

Thomas Forshaw (unsure of age Mary widowed by 1851)
Mary Forshaw (26) brn Litherland
Thomas Forshaw (4) brn West Derby

and maybe:  John Forshaw (would just be born)

Thanks in advance.

Can anybody tell me if the cemetery of St Anne is attached to the church in Prescot Road - I have some receipts for the purchase of a private grave in 1887 and the re-opening and chiselling of the headstone in 1910's.

Cornwall Completed Lookup Requests / DAWSON - Patronymics
« on: Sunday 20 November 05 22:14 GMT (UK)  »
Can anybody help me?

I have an ancestor from Penryn "Solomon Ingram Dawson".

To date we can not locate any information on him apart from his army papers stating that he was born circa 1808 in the Parish of Penryn.

A sudden thought just struck me - I've been doing some delving into my welsh history and have a Morris relative - who appears to have been born to a Jones - this is where the patronymics kick in.

Is this possible in Cornwall - could our Solomon have been born under a different name?

I know that a lot of research has been done into the Ingram's in Gwinear Cornwall - could the middle name mean he's related in some way?

My poor newly found cousin Molly (who actually lives in Cornwall) has been in to Truro lately sieving through the records but has come up with nothing on this man, we are desperate for any help.

Thank you for your time.

Lancashire / RAINHILL HOSPITAL - Records
« on: Tuesday 01 November 05 14:04 GMT (UK)  »
Just found out that one of my relatives died 1924 in "Ecclesston Mental Hospital" - they did have lovely terminology in those days.

Lokking at the liverpool familia site for hospital records it looks like permission has to be sought from the NHS trust that owns the records before the Library will look them up.

Would anyone know if I still have to get permission if the person has died?
