Occupation Interests / Charter master
« on: Saturday 30 September 06 17:30 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone tell me what a charter master is?   I have finally found a marriage I have been searching for for ages, and eagerly awaited the certificate, only to find the copy is really difficult to read.  I think it says that the bride's father's profession is Charter Master.

It sounds like something to do with boats or sailing, but they lived in Dawley, Shropshire, so unlikely I would have thought.

Thanks,
Diane

Hi,

It there any kind person who could do a 41 census lookup for me please?

I would like to find William and Elizabeth Atkin in Sculcoates or other Hull area.  I'm afraid I don't know their exact ages, but probably born in 1770s, or at a pinch 1780s.  I suspect he was born in Yorks, but she may not have been.

Sorry it's a bit vague, but any possibilities gratefully received.
Thanks,
Diane

Hi,

Does anyone have access to the Parish Records for Grimscote?

I would like to find the birth of Jeffrey (Geoffrey) Davis, born about 1784.  He later moved to Ryton on Dunsmore, Warks, and then Sharnford, Leics.

Thanks if you can help  ;)

Worcestershire / Green family in/near Worcester
« on: Thursday 29 December 05 15:58 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I wondered if anyone had access to the parish records of Worcester.

I have a John Green (who was born in Aylestone, Leicestershire) who married an Ann of Worcestershire.

They had several children at Lindridge, but I have just discovered two earlier children, John born in Claines in 1819 and another, Mary Ann, who may have been born in Claines in 1813, or St Helen Worcester in 1816 (IGI).

The IGI gives two marriages between a John and Ann:
John m Ann Burford, 1815  - St Peter Worcester
John m Ann Dorrell, 1815 - Claines

There weren't any pre 1813 in Claines.

I've been struggling with this line for ages (Green being such a common name).  I'm not sure how near to Worcester Claines is (John on 61 census gave Claines as place of birth, but in 51 said Worcester City, and in 71 said St Oswald's Worcester!!)

On the actual marriage records it may say that John was from Leicestershire, which will pinpoint it.

Thank you if you can help, or give advice.   ;)

Regards,
Diane

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / 1841 lookup request - Chamberlain
« on: Monday 28 November 05 19:18 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Is there anyone with access to the 1841 census who could look up the following person for me please?

Ann Chamberlain born Bushbury, Staffs about 1818.

She would still be unmarried in 1841, and hopefully living at home with her family, because I need to find out more about them.  I only know her father was William Chamberlain, a labourer (details from her marriage certificate).

Thanks,
Diane   ;)

Warwickshire / Harding of Bilton
« on: Wednesday 23 November 05 16:36 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I've just found out that I've been chasing a wrong lead  ::).

Who I need to find is a Thomas Harding, who according to censuses was born in Bilton, Warwickshire in about 1786 - 1788.

He later married an Ann (of Walcote, Leics) and they had a couple of children in Hilmorton, warwickshire (George, 1811 and Thomas, 1814) before moving to Walcote where they had several more children.

Does anyone have access to the parish registers for Bilton or Hilmorton, which I believe are both in the Rugby area, who could lookup the birth of Thomas, and/or the marriage to Ann.  (I cannot find their marriage in Walcote).

Thank you very much,
Diane   :)

Northamptonshire / Creaton or Ravensthorpe
« on: Sunday 13 November 05 16:22 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Is there anyone who has access to the parish records of Creaton who would be prepared to do a lookup for me?

I have an Ann Biggs who married Richard Dunkley at Ravensthorpe in 1794.  I believe she was born in Creaton around 1775.

I would be very grateful,
Thank you,
Diane   :)

Warwickshire / Ryton on Dunsmore
« on: Sunday 13 November 05 15:33 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Does anyone have access to the parish records of Ryton on Dunsmore?

I have a Charlotte Davis, born around 1810/11 who lived in Yelvertoft, Northants, but puts Ryton on the censuses as her birth place.

There does not appear to be anything on the IGI.  I would love to find out more about her and her parentage.  If anyone has access and is able to do a look up for me I would be very grateful.

Thanks,
Diane

Worcestershire / Parish Records Lindridge
« on: Tuesday 18 October 05 16:25 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Does anyone have access to the parish records of Lindridge by any chance?

I am trying to find the marriage of John Green (who was born in Aylestone, Leics.) and Ann.   On the 1841 census they were living in Lindridge and Ann was ticked as from Worcs.  Their children were all listed on the 51 census as having been born in Lindridge, but unfortunately Ann had died by then.

I wondered if they had married there because Ann was from Worcs, and they settled to have their children there.  I know nothing more about her unfortunately.

John was born in 1789.  Their first child was born about 1821, so they were probably married about 1820 or a few years before.

Thanks if you are able to help at all.
Diane  ;)
