Cornwall / Details on Death Certificate
« on: Friday 06 July 07 23:01 BST (UK)  »

I have contacted the registars office in St Austell regarding a possible death certificate of  my uncle. My dad lost contact with him in the early 1950's
They told me that the death cert would not give his marital staus at the time of death or his parents name. only details of who registered his death

The death is registered in 1995 Yes I do mean 1995
Please can anyone tell me if this is correct? As it seems that if this is true there would be no point in ordering this cert especially as he was Born in Aberdeen and as far as I know the family has no connection with Cornwall.
KInd regards
Jean

« on: Tuesday 03 July 07 00:30 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I have been trying for ages to locate my Grandmother's travel to Canada

I have only recently found a possible birth for her in Hull [awaiting Cert]
I have details of her marriage transcribed [by a rellie]  This certificate in his possession is very frail, been sellotaped and it has not been kept in good condition and parts are virtually unreadable but here goes
" county of NOEHILJA" Provence of Quebec.
Can anyone shed any light on this appently the writting is bad and very faint

She married in December 1912 and had returned to Scotland by Feb 1915
I would dearly like to find the date etc of her arrival in Canada
And possibly something about the witness to the marriage
Any help gratefully appreciated
Whoops nearly forgot Her Name is
Mary Elizabeth Johnson born 1889

Family History Beginners Board / Bones or Meaty Bones
« on: Sunday 01 July 07 15:19 BST (UK)  »
 Hi
I started my tree, like probably many others, after losing both my parents within a short period and finding old family photo's in their belongings and remembering little snippets of "Stories", Also shortly afterwards  the BBC series started .
Here I am 4 years later with so many bricks in the wall it makes the great wall of China that look like a garden path!
My question is do I keep trying to get further back, do I side step and try grandparents siblings, or should I just try to put meat on the bones that I already have.
I now find that I have time on my hands to try to knock down a few bricks but funds are very low [made redundant]
Any advise greatly appeciated

Can anyone tell me the address/phone/e-mail address of whom to contact to check & possibly order a copy of a death certificate of my grandfathers brother

I have found a reference whose name/DOB  possibly could solve the mystery surrounding him
The death was recorded in 1995 in St.Austell

Many thanks

Have nearly lost all my marbles  PLEASE can anyone help???

My paternal Grandmother is evading me BIG TIME

Mary Johnson born I estimate around 1889 SOMEWHERE

She married her 1st hubby in MONTREAL Decmber 1912.

My uncle was, I presume born in Canada. The family returned sometime between February1914 & February 1915 and then resided at Burn Lane Inverurie where my Aunt was born on the 27th February1915
My uncle was Baptised at this address on the 15th february 1915 By James Black Mininster of Inverurie.
Is there any way of finding out who lived at this residence at that time as I have found no connections with Scotland prior to this on her side of the family

I have been unable to trace anything for her prior to her 1st marriage???? and clutching at straws I am hoping to find another family member to help in my quest

help desperately needed
many thanks
I live in hope

Staffordshire / HELP NEEDED or Wolverhampton newspapers 1881-1891
« on: Wednesday 26 July 06 00:52 BST (UK)  »
I desperately need lots of help after hitting the ineviatable brick wall and having a break for a few months sorting through everything  Well surprise surprise the wall is still there possibly even a bit higher!!!!
am trying to find

HENRY LEWIS born approx 1852 in Wolverhampton
I have found the family  at   5 Clifton Street Wolverhampton  1881 census

1891 census have found some of the children in the Wednesfield Cottage Home and possibly his wife Sarah in the workhouse listed as being Married aged 36, Publican, but no trace of HENRY

I have contacted Wolverhampton records for info on the children but they do not have them on their records, even though they show up on the census as being there????

Can anyone help with finding him???

I know that by 1902 he has died, listed on my Grandfathers Marriage cert as Deceased, occupation listed as Barman, although I have not been able to find a death cert for him

Was wondering if there was a newspaper around at that time that might possibly list his death, imprisonment or something about the family  I only pick up my grandfather again in 1902 in Aberdeen

if anyone can help I would be eternally grateful
Many thanks

Family History Beginners Board / Deed Poll ?????
« on: Sunday 19 February 06 00:19 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
Am trying to find my aunt's husband's birth cert and go further back if possible

My cousin has recently made contact with one of his sisters whom he hasn't had any contact with for around twenty or so years. The family split when my cousin was a babe in arms, the girls remained with their father and my cousin with his mum [my aunt]

My cousin's surname is Webberley
it transpires that his Grandfather  changed his name from WIBBERLEY to WEBBERLEY at some stage by deed poll
Is there anyway of tracing his change that anyone knows of????

I changed my name after my divorce back to my maiden name by deed poll
I have a copy of this and so too does the solicitor but is the information logged anywhwere???

by the way i still haven't managed to find my Aunt's Husbands birth cert or his fathers so am really stumped

Looking for

STANLEY ARTHUR WEBBERLEY/WIBBERLEY born around 1903

His father
GEORGE ARTHUR WIBBERLEY/WEBBERLEY I assume born around 1880
Have no idea where  any help would be greatly appreciated
