Midlothian / tracing William Burns
« on: Wednesday 04 January 12 22:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,I am new to genealogy and am tracing my husbands side.It starts with William Burns 1934 and I have got stuck @ William burns 1808. he married Margaret Mitchell in 1808  at canongate. Edinburgh. Midlothian Scotland. Her fathers name on the banns is John Mitchell, smith, but no parents name for William,I do not know how to proceed.Another point which may be useful is the christian name all the way has been William or John.On the son John's birth certificate the witnesses are John Mitchell and Peter Burns. hope someone can help, because I am finding this whole thing frustrating but fascinating. Rose Burns.
