Hi,

I'm hoping someone will be able to help me. I'm hoping to apply for an British army record of my deceased Grandfather but do not know his Soldier number. Is there anyway of finding out this information.

Also I don't know if you can but is there any information you can get from a photo of his uniform.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

« on: Wednesday 21 August 13 22:45 BST (UK)  »
Hello all,

I've benn thinking of either buying or subscribing to a family history magazine. But are they actually worth the money if so which would you recommend.

Also the same question about books to do with family history.

I've been doing my research for about two years now and still consider myself a beginner.

Thank You

Ireland / Obtaining Birth Certificate
« on: Saturday 10 November 12 20:47 GMT (UK)  »
Hello all,

I recently found out that my Great-Grandfather came from county Galway. I want to get a copy of his birth certificate but have very limited information on him.

Name: Leonard Timothy O'Gara
Born: January 1922, County Galway
Fathers Name: William Patrick O'Gara

I have looked on Family Search and can't find anything on him. Will I be able to get a copy of his birth certificate with the information I have?

Thank you all. :)

Family History Programs, Tree Organisation, Presentation / Organising my research
« on: Sunday 21 October 12 10:25 BST (UK)  »
Hello all,

I started researching my family history about year ago now and it's all on the computer. I'd really like to start putting it on paper but have no idea how to start. There is so many different charts and forms out there and I just don't know which to choose. I'd like to be able to do everything in Mirosoft Word as my written handwriting is not very neat.

Any suggestions would be a great help.
Thank You

My Great Grandfather was in the Royal Navy ad recieved a free discharge in the 60's I don't know when he died as he was in Australia and think the only way I'll find out is by finding out when his Navy pensions stopped.

Does anyone know how I go about finding when his pensions was stopped?

Thank you all.

« on: Monday 02 July 12 20:38 BST (UK)  »
Hello All,

I'm trying to trace my Irish ancestors. My Great Grandfather was named Leonard O'Gara and we always assumed he was from Ireland but we do not know which part. From Leonard's marrige certificate to Olga Law in Manchester, England his fathers name was William Patrick O'Gara.

I haven't been able to find anything else out. Can anyone help or offer advice.

Thank You.
