Roscommon / Constable Ferris, Boyle.
« on: Thursday 07 December 23 13:06 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, Im looking for any relevant information on Constable Thomas Ferris who married Eleanor Sheeran in Boyle on 8th April 1865.
On the marriage cert it states that Thomas is a 'Constable' and his father Thomas is a Farmer, it gives Eleanor's father is also named Thomas but no occupation given.
I have seen entries of children born to the couple,
Maria Honora, dob 1867
James Joseph, dob 1871
Mary Ellen,     dob 1879.
Fanny/Frances dob 1883.

Father Thomas has 'Clogher' listed as place of residency on the earlier birth entries 1867-1871, (possibly where he was barracked at the time?)
By the time Mary Ellen was born in 1879 he was listed as 'Pensioner RIC.

Thomas died in Boyle in 1887 aged 60,
His wife Ellen and daughter Mary Ellen are listed on the 1901 census at Gorthmeadow.
I cannot find any trace of James Joseph (dob 1871)

I have information on Fanny/Frances marriage in 1921 in Blackrock Co Dublin, so im not concerned as to that link along with her census entries 1901-1911, (employed by Post-Office)

I would be very interested and thankful in any Info regs Thomas R.I.C. Service along with what became of James Joseph, death details, etc.
Thanking you.

Dublin / Harolds cross couple.
« on: Thursday 21 September 23 17:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi, Im struggling to find a marriage date for Patrick Martin to Sheila Dunne in the mid 1940s, the couple I believe were nearby neighbors, Patrick from 27 Harolds Cross Cottages, and Shelia from nearby No 1 Darley St.

Patrick was born on 4-3-1923 father's name John/Jack, (I believe at No 27 Harolds cross cottages but not 100%) his father worked for Guinness and may have been a cooper.

Patrick would later also be employed by Guinness as a 'processman'  and from their records he joined on 10-1-1945, they gave Sheila Martin as his wife (I dont know if this would be added on his record when first employed or later date ? hence my guess as to year of marriage, their eldest son born 1949 )

Sheila Dunne was born 1928 (no day/month) but the belief is at 1 Darley St.

I have checked the 1911 census for family surnames for both Harolds Cross Cottages and Darley st in hope that the family had lived there but drew a blank.

I also paid a visit to the GRO Research room today in hope of finding either or both Birth and Marriage cert but the offices were not open (2pm).

I would as always be very grateful for any info forwarded in order to continue.
Thanking you.

« on: Thursday 14 September 23 11:35 BST (UK)  »
Hi, again looking for help in tracing any records (census etc) for the Lynagh family in Falkirk,
from a previous post I have been informed that Catherine Kearns/Cairns nee Lynagh gave birth to a daughter also called Catherine at 27 Silver Row, Falkirk on 5-2-1919, seemingly there is also a marriage record from 1918 naming Catherine Lynagh.

I would be interested and very grateful for any ref to the Lynagh family in the Falkirk area relating to census records etc.
Again I am very appreciative of time and effort taken to follow up on this request.
Thanking you.

Patrick's father is listed as James Breen, who had married twice, his 2nd Wife Annie nee Fitzgerald had died in 1905, James had married her in 1894.

Im looking for possible service record for Patrick regs his enlistment/service, d.o.b and place of birth etc and am hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction.

Midlothian / marriage lookup John Dunbar/Isabella Tomlinson circa 1904.
« on: Tuesday 06 July 21 17:11 BST (UK)  »
Hi, im looking for an address linked to John Dunbar and his wife Isabella/Isobel who married circa 1904.

John Dunbar was an iron worker who moved to Dublin Ireland circa 1910 with his wife Isobella and his 3 children, this info comes from the 1911 census for Dublin in which states his children
Clementina 6 was born in Scotland and his other 2 children Ann aged 3 and John aged 1 were born in 'England' (possibly Sheffield) another child was born in Dublin in October 1911.
at the time of census John was 32 and Isabella 24, there is a question mark regs Isabellas age due to her death cert in 1912 giving her age as 28.
so its possible she was born circa 1884-87?

Isabella died of a brain tumour is the Whitworth hospital Dublin in January 1912.
John would remarry on 26th April 1914 to Marcella Fagan in the church of the holy cross Rathdown, by all accounts he converted to catholicism.

Im hoping to pass any info pertaining to their life before travelling to Ireland as their relatives would love to visit Edinburgh and hopefully walk in their footsteps.
Thanking you.

Dublin / Shamrock Lodging house exact address
« on: Sunday 09 May 21 19:30 BST (UK)  »
Hi im hoping someone might have a business register that could tell me what address would the 'Shamrock Lodging House' on Gardiner Street would have been during the 1940s/50s?

The problem stem's from the fact that Gardiner street been one of the longest streets in Dublin had/has a mixture of social, private, and business houses, and it has the Lower/Middle/Upper addresses.

I do know that a lady called Francis Walsh was most likely the manager and possibly owner of the 'Shamrock Lodging house' building/business during the 1940s/50s.

As usual any help will be very much appreciated.
