Ireland / Baptism records help please!
« on: Thursday 03 November 16 10:07 GMT (UK)  »
I am searching through baptism records and often run across a little cross next to the name.

So, my thought is that the child did not survive. Is this right? Or does it mean they died later as an adult?

The Common Room / Why they died.
« on: Saturday 04 June 16 20:08 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone!

Did you ever come across relatives dying days apart? I was wondering if there is a site that explains common illnesses or epidemics of a certain year.

My family was at a burial the other day and after visiting cemetery stones my niece asked why all "their children" died in 1874....

Any suggestions where I should look?

Monmouthshire / Always the same witnesses?!?
« on: Friday 21 August 15 20:49 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

A relative of mine from Cwmbran married in Feb 1847. I noticed the witnesses to their marriage and many other marriages on that page were almost always Wm and Amy Dawe.

Why would that happen!?
