Lincolnshire / Marshalls' of Grimsby, Lincolnshire

Hi All,
I am researching my husband's paternal great grandfather. His name was Samuel Marshall, b 1880 in Grimsby. He married Mary Alderson Middleton in 1889. Samuel was working aboard the HMT Ampulla in 1918 and I cannot find a trace of him since. they had several children together: James Samuel (1901-1903), Louisa (1902), Elsie (1904), Lucy May (1905) Samuel (1906) Leonard (1907) and William (1908). Samuel, Leonard and William were all put into the care of barnardo's in 1918 and from what I can gather, the older children were kept with family in Lincolnshire. I am having a lot of trouble finding anything about Samuel (father) what with the frequency the name Marshall pops up for the area. I am in Australia and so getting to local records is pretty difficlu if they are not on the internet. any help of info would be greatly apprecaited!!
