Hello,

I cannot find a marriage for my g. grandparents William McTear (Mateer) and Sarah Lindsay.
They were from Down and had 3 children baptised Presbyterian in Bangor.
But no sign of a marriage. The church told me they would not have been able to baptize their children if they were unmarried.
But I don't know how to find it.

Without that I cannot find their parents. And as Wm came to England in 1880s without Sarah but with 3 children.
And having been told by a cousin that he came alone but Sarah had not died, i am baffled.

If any one can offer any advice I would be grateful and impart what little more I know.

Hello,

According to the 1851 census my James Hunter was born in Appleton Wiske.
I cannot find him on the IGI.  In fact I cant find anything about him.
Therefor I have no idea who his parents were, or if he had siblings.
He married elizabeth Byerley from Brompton in 1812.
they had 9 children in Brompton, but by 1841 turn up in the Middlesbrough census.

Does anyone have any records that  might help me trace James please.
it has been a block for me for years.

I have a family of Williams......mostly called Edward....
I have them in the English census when they went to Dearham Cumberland.
But in the Welsh ones I just cant find them.
Part of the problem is the changing of given place of birth.
Edward 2 was born either 1816 or 1820/2 in Maybe Hope r Northop....but i am not convinced on either.
His father Edward 1 was born in Mold I think abt 1790 ish.
I don't know the name of his wife.

Edward 2 married at least twice, the first gave hi at least one son..John born Tryddyn 1854
There is one on the 1861 with a grandmother Elizabeth so perhaps Edward 2 mother is Elizabeth.

Edward 2 married Ann Plummer from Distington in 1860 in Wrexham.
But their two sons Thomas and my g.grandfather Edward (3) were born in Tryddyn.
although it seem that Edward 3 was actually born in the Griffin pub in Llanbedr.

I apologise if this straddles borders...but some if  not all of this is rooted in Flintshire.

Can anyone help please.

Hello,

I am trying to find anyone else that might have been in my Smith line.
They were in Lanchester, Tanfield, Gateshead (Heworth, Felling) and latterly Low Fell.
My best link is my Robson Smith b 1825.  he had quite few children with Jane Bridgewood.
The other name further down the line is Williams.
I know I must still have some family up in Gateshead, but because of the common names it is a hopeless search.
If anyone can "relate" to my Smiths, or even think they can, please get in touch.

Hi again,

Well I now have some clues as to where the Tibbeys might have been in Shrops.
So if anyone has any way to check them out in 1841 this would be very much appreciated thank you.
I am still getting the hang of Shropshire geography so it doesnt mean too much to me.  I know there are more than these ones out there, but this is all I can offer for now.
