Lancashire / Martin Quinlan
« on: Friday 10 April 20 20:02 BST (UK)  »
Good evening everyone

Ive not been on here for ages and hope someone can help me.

I’m looking for a Martin Quinlan (b circa1862) who drowned in the Manchester Ship Canal in 1901. Sadly I’ve lost the copy of the inquest into his untimely death (which was due to his intoxication) and wonder if anyone can point me as to where I might find the newspaper article.

I did have a copy, as I recall it said he’d been in a local hostelry prior to setting off home...

At the time he was still married to a Sarah Quinlan (m 1884).

Thank you!

Looking for burial records of my husband's grandparents:  Austin Quinlan b1886, d Dec 1975
and Agnes Ellen Quinlan (nee Norman) - b 17/10/1884, d June 1951.

Austin died in the parish of Greenwich
Agnes (known as Ellen) died in the parish of Lambeth

Any info on where I can find details of their final resting places would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Devon / Charles R and Elizabeth Mason
« on: Monday 18 March 19 19:53 GMT (UK)  »
I’m looking for information on a Charles R Mason (born 1907) and his wife, Elizabeth. It seems that Charles was a cotton manufacturing director and at the time of the 1939 register they lived at 10 Lockington Ave, Plymouth (which currently looks a very desirable road).

I’m looking to see if they moved on from that address - and whether they had any children. Although I couldn’t find a marriage for them. Can anyone help me, please?

Devon Lookup Requests / Charles Kemp - Her Majesty’s Dockyard, Plymouth
« on: Thursday 07 March 19 19:15 GMT (UK)  »
I’m looking for information on a Charles Kemp who was a labourer at HMD in Plymouth in 1940. We don’t know his age.

We do know He had a daughter [Frances Dorothy Kemp] at that time who was living at 94 Warleigh Avenue, Plymouth and we’re wondering if anyone is able to access any records of who else was residing st that address in July 1940, at the time of Frances’s marriage to Charles Percival Jenkin.

Frances had always thought that she’d been adopted. But we have No other information on that at all.

Thanks in advance.

Scotland / help needed please regarding a Frances Dorothy Kemp born in Glasgow
« on: Friday 01 March 19 18:24 GMT (UK)  »
Hi.  I haven't been on this site for years and am hoping someone can help in the Glasgow area.

The only information I have is regarding a Frances Dorothy Kemp born in Glasgow in 1917.  Apparently she went on to be adopted (I'm guessing as a baby).  She eventually moved to Davenport (I think) and eventually married a Percy Jenkin (date unknown).

That is the only information I have unfortunately.  There are no adoption papers, birth certificate, no nothing. She never talked about her history to anyone.

Can anyone please help me....?

Hi everyone

I've not been on here for ages, but wondered if anyone could suggest some good software for genealogy?

We did use Family Tree Legends on our old computer, which I loved using, but we now need something compatible with our new system - Windows 7.  Any suggestions please for something that is equally easy to use?

Lincolnshire / Olive Alice Nundy (nee Black) Voluntary nurse in the British Red Cross
« on: Thursday 04 December 14 13:37 GMT (UK)  »
My mother was a voluntary nurse in the British Red Cross (Scunthorpe area) somewhere around the late 1930's/1940's - or maybe even later.  I've tried to contact the Red Cross to find out if there is any record of her - but, alas, this proved unsuccessful.

There was an article & photo of her in ...(I think it would have been the Scunthorpe Telegraph) many, many moons ago and I would like to find out as much as I can about when she was in the Red Cross and how long for, etc.

Can anyone point me in the right direction, please?
