Hatch, Match & Dispatch steps inside the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages (BDM), for an intimate look at the milestones that unite us all.
The Registry of Births Deaths & Marriages (BDM) is the place where the most momentous events of our lives happen. We go there when the stakes are highest and when we’re at our most joyful and vulnerable. Emotions run high and the recurring theme that unites everyone in the building is love. Landmark events unfold every day: young lovers get hitched on a budget; marriage parties roll in and out like clockwork, and intimate personal moments get thrown around like confetti. And then there's death...
Witness firsthand funny, romantic, emotional and sometimes unhinged moments, following stories to maternity wards and hospitals, family homes, funeral parlours, cemeteries, and beyond.
Hatch, Match & Dispatch brings us stories of life, love and loss.

Hi
Marriage 30 Oct 1849 St Matthew Bethnal Green, between John Hill (age Full) and Eleanor Hardy (Minor).
Father of the groom is Charles Hill (Carpenter)
Father of the bride is Thomas Masterman Hardy (Foreman in the Docks)
Adding: Both Bride and Groom signed their names.
I am trying to work out the following:

(attachment 1) Grooms 'Rank or Profession'  ?? East India Company

(attachment 2) 'Witnesses'
looks like Catherine Hill (wondering if this may be his Mother),
??Hill (does that look like Charles? or Mary?),
Ellen ?? (definitely not Hill but trying to see if this is possibly his married sister?).

suggestions welcome :)

London and Middlesex / Death look up please - 1876 Thomas Hardy
« on: Friday 03 October 14 14:45 BST (UK)  »
I need help to find more detail on this death http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/information.pl?r=58513160&d=bmd_1410199645
I believe he may be my Thomas Masterman Hardy (foundling baptised 1806, previous post http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=600056.9 )

I have found Thomas in census records:
1861 census Thomas Hardy; age 55; where born "Not Known" with his 4th wife Elizabeth (Dunthorne); son-in-law Henry Dunthorne and wife
1871 census Thomas M. Hardy; age 66; where born "Not Known" and wife Elizabeth
1881 census Elizabeth, is a "widow", and with her son Henry Dunthorne

Any help appreciated
cheers :)

Australia / Help to identify a JP from Cessnock NSW
« on: Thursday 21 November 13 10:52 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to identify a Justice of the Peace who witnessed my grandmother’s probate in 1953 at Cessnock. I have seen his signature on several other documents in the Cessnock area circa 1953 to 1958, so he must have been a well known JP.
I have attached his signature hoping that someone can identify his full name.

cheers :)
