The Lighter Side / Computer Crash !!!
« on: Wednesday 01 August 07 05:22 BST (UK)  »
Greetings All,

Firstly apologies to anyone waiting for me to do searches here in Dublin,  I have had a major crash on the computer and have not been able to get online at all.

Secondly I have also been up to my gills with family matters and haven't been able to get into town to the GRO or Archives.

Holidays approach and after the weather we have been having I do have to admit that I cannot wait to get away to the sun.

I am so sorry again to those who probably think I have abandoned the search.... NEVER... just delayed....

I now have an external hard drive ( BACK UP -------- Back up all the time ) and my computer ( touching wood rapidly) is back working and I will get to all the searches as soon as I can.

Best wishes to all

Take care and talk soon

I know that I read a post  that related to a Norah Crawley and an Emily Kent Crawley nee Hooper

If someone could find it for me I would appreciate it.

I was in the GRO today and found the birth certificate of Norah Crawley and I would like to pass on the details to the Rootschatter that put up the original posting

Immigrants & Emigrants - General / Passengers who died crossing the Atlantic
« on: Friday 20 April 07 05:19 BST (UK)  »
While reading an old Family Tree Magazine, I came across this list of people who died while crossing the Atlantic in 1853from Liverpool to New York. The Hibernia arrived in New York 24th November 1853 and the Constellation arrived the same day.  I thought by transcribing the list it may help someone that was looking for a person that just disappeared from sight. I have attached the lists as a document.

This is a postcard Posted  on the Non Topagraphical postcards page

My late mom and brother travelled from Southampton to Singapore just after the war to join my Dad who was there.

Brian (my brother) got Measles just before they went through the Suez Canal and my poor mother spent the next 3 weeks in Isolation..... no air conditioning in those days....

I have admired the repairing skills of the folks here in Rootschat and I would be so grateful if you could have a go at getting the crease out of the card image... its the only one i have....

thanks a mill

Warwickshire / Can Anyone Help
« on: Thursday 08 February 07 18:07 GMT (UK)  »
I wonder can anyone out there help me on this "branch" lost at the moment from my tree...

I have just found out that my Grandfathers sister Thirza Walker married a Harry Sumner in 1915 in Birmingham... They had one son that I know about a Stuart John Sumner ( born 1922.. died 1997)  he married a Gwenyth Walker (not on my WALKER line) in 1948 in Surrey... I have no idea if they had any other children or if Stuart and Gwenyth had family.

My question is the following... Harry Sumner was a "Oil and Colour Company Secretary"  but have no idea the name of the company.  I was wondering if anyone that lives in the Birmingham area knows the family and and would be able to connect me up with them.
Since my fathers death in 1986 there has been no contact at all with the "Walker" connections in England and any help in this direction would really be appreciated.

I know this is a long shot but if you don't ask you will never know.....

Thanks in advance
