Morning All
Trying to establish if a John Henry Bell who died in 1921 is really interred in a Guinea Grave.
Been in touch with Friends of Beckett Street cemetery in Leeds but there is no record of him even though family anecdotes for decades said that he was in that cemetery.
So is it possible that he is in Harehills Cemetery, Leeds ?  But do they have Guinea Graves ???

One other possibility that strikes me is that John Henry Bell had a son who died age 9 in 1897....now he for certain is in Beckett Street Cemetery......perhaps he is the one in the Guinea Grave and the family stories have been confused ?
Thanks for any help.

Cork / Bridget Foley - date/year of birth
« on: Friday 04 May 18 13:49 BST (UK)  »
Have been trying to find the date of birth of one of my wife's ancestors called BRIDGET FOLEY
She got married on 28 March 1859 to a James Bell ( soldier ) at St. Anne, Shandon, Cork.
Been looking through various census for England / Wales as when he had left Regular Army he was posted to West Suffoulk Militia in Bury St. Edmunds.
So later they again moved together to Merthyr Tydfil in Wales where they ended there days.
Trouble is persons ages in the Census are sometimes way out either through the enumerator estimating things or the actual person giving erroneous birth dates.
For instance - Bury St. Edmunds 1861 - her age is 24 ( yob - 1837 )
                           Merthyr Tydfil 1881 - her age 50 ( yob - 1831 )
                              "    "      "    1891 - her age 60 ( yob 1831 )
                              "    "      "    1901 - she still 60  ( yob 1841 )
Can someone please, please, please put me out of my misery and find her real age when she got married ( which was a Civil Registration )
Oddly James Bell her husband is listed as a Protestant on birth details of their children but they are baptised Roman Catholic.
Does that mean the mother Bridget was Roman Catholic ?
In case anyone actually finds real birth details - Census info. states she was born in Cork.
And Bridget Foley's father was called William Foley.
Thanks again for any help with this one

Angus (Forfarshire) / 1891 scottish census - HAY
« on: Wednesday 02 May 18 17:34 BST (UK)  »
Trying to find the exact occupation of James Hay in 1891. He was born in Kirkden Angus in 1831/ 32.
Have notion that he may have been something to do with Quarries i.e. Stonemason, Stone Dresser or something to do with stone or slate.
Have searched and found that he was married ( wife Elizabeth ? ) and living in Tealing, Angus in 1891.
Can anyone help me find his occupation ?
He had nine children through 1855 - 1874 and perhaps Eliza, Agnes, Albert and Amelia are still living at home in 1891.
Thanks for any help

Lanarkshire / STEWART & MILLER Marriage - 1903
« on: Saturday 30 June 12 18:36 BST (UK)  »
According to my fathers birth certificate ( born 1908 in Eaglesham / Renfrewshire ) his parents
ROBERT STEWART ( postman ) & JEANIE MILLER were married April 27 1903 in Glasgow.

I am dubious about this statement as no one in our family new anything about a Jeanie Miller until fairly recently.
Did any marraige take place ?

Thanks for your help.
