In the hope that someone can help I post a message tried before to no avail.
I am looking for some further information about my James Rainsford, particularly required is both his birth and death details!
His father is believed to have been a one John Rainsford, possibly Irish.
He first turned up when a relationship appears to have been forged with my Maria Macey, nee Polden, a widow with two sons from Chilmark in Wiltshire. It is possible that Maria married James Rainsford although no marriage can be found. Certainly it is known that Rainsford married a Ann Sterling in London in 1851.
James Rainsford was recorded as being a Fishing Tackle Maker. Maria gave birth to his son George who was born at the Liberty of Saffron Hill circa 1849.
Maria called herself Rainsford from that time until her death in 1882.
She and her Macey sons and the son George Rainsford all learned the Fishing Tackle trade.
The last 'heard' of James was on the record of the birth of James John Rainsford to Ann Sterling in 1852 at The Coppice Row Workhouse. He and Ann were married in 1851 so we are not sure why the birth took place at the workhouse although she had previously given birth there earlier to a son by James who died a few days after birth.
Since 1852 there have been no record of him.
If anyone comes across his death or etc I would be pleased to hear from them.
John Macey
