« on: Thursday 10 June 21 09:14 BST (UK)  »
Good Morning, im wondering if anybody can recognise this occupation?  I cannot quite work out the full spelling of the job.  At the time my relative live in Port Glasgow, Scotland.  I think the job is Sawerin, but have no idea what that is, and even searching google isn't coming up with anything.

Many thanks,

Perry

Lanarkshire / Neil McDougall (b 1734) & Florence McPherson (1738)
« on: Friday 04 June 21 15:28 BST (UK)  »
Hey everybody.  After a period of time away from ancestry, I've decided to start again.  I've tried in the past to find marriage details for my 6x Great Grandparents (I have their children's info) and would really like to find records for their parents (esp the McDougall line).  The last time I'd look I'd come to a grinding halt & appeared to have exhausted the online info.  Neil was born in 1734 in Glasgow & Florence in 1738.

I'd be extremely appreciative if somebody can point me in the right direction to unlock this puzzle.

Many thanks

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Parish Records Macclesfield 1811 - 15
« on: Saturday 18 October 14 13:25 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Does anybody have visibility of Parish Records for Macclesfield between 1811 and around 1817.  I am looking for the children of Joseph Mason and Hannah Broadhurst (married Astbury 15/09/1811).  I have found 1 on FamSearch, Thomas born 1812, but I cannot find any other children listed in the normal places I have access to.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

The Common Room / Birth Record
« on: Sunday 28 September 14 22:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I feel like a bit of a pest, but not sure where else to look as I think I have exhausted all of my sources to discover the answers I have been looking for.
I have been looking for the birth record of Mary Stretford, daughter of William Stretford & Susannah, his wife.  I think she was born about 1815(ish).  She married Philip Mason in Manchester in 1837. Lived in Brinnington, Cheshire in 1838,  I know she had 1 son in Sculcoates, Hull at her parents house in 1843. 1841 census shows here there but under maiden name, family are shown as not of that county. She had twins in 1846 in Marple, Cheshire again Philip was the father.

I have looked on FindMyPast, Ancestry, Family Search and BMDs all drawing a blank :(.

Similarly I cannot find birth record of her Father William Stretford ( i believe late 1790) or marriage record to Susannah (maiden name unknown).

So if any of you kind people has some magic source of Info that may shine a light, i certainly would appreciate it.

Thank you.

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) Lookup Requests / Mary Stretford / Philip Mason
« on: Tuesday 26 August 14 19:42 BST (UK)  »
Good Evening,

After a break in searching due to dead ends I'm hoping somebody will be able to ease my frustration relating to my 3x Grandparents Mary Stretford & Philip Mason.

The only formal info I can find about them is that they were married at Manchester Cathedral in 1837. Philip was a Cotton Spinner (who I believe was from Stockport although again I can find no birth registration) and I think this brought him to Hull at some point as their son Joseph was born in 27 Dec 1843 at 7 Albert Street, Sculcoates, the home of William Stretford the Father of Mary.  Joseph was placed into the poorhouse in Sculcoates at some point as he is registered there for the 1851 census (again I don't know when or why).

I cannot find birth or death records for either Mary or Philip although I am aware that according to Joseph's marriage cert in 1865 Philip was shown as "Late".  There is a record in the 1861 census of a Philip Mason, a cotton spinner living in Stockport but married to a Catherine. My thoughts are that Mary died at some point before 1851, Joseph was placed into the poorhouse and Philip went back to Stockport where he eventually met Catherine and married.

I have looked on FindMyPast and famsearch to no avail if anybody can shed some light  on BMD records for Philip & Mary it would be appreciated.

Kent Lookup Requests / William Jones - Canterbury
« on: Friday 08 August 14 10:44 BST (UK)  »
Good Morning,
Im struggling to find BMD details for a relative of mine called William Jones. My best guess of year of birth is around 1780ish! I believe he married a woman called Anne (i have no other details for her either.  I know one daughter Jane Jones was baptised in Canterbury 25/12/1804. They had another daughter, Sarah, baptised 10 May 1801 again in Canterbury. If anybody could add detail to a very thin picture on William Jones & his wife Anne it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Kent Lookup Requests / marriage of Jane Jones born around dec 1805 Canterbury
« on: Saturday 17 August 13 20:00 BST (UK)  »
I've been trying to discover a marriage record for my 4 x Gt Grandmother Jane Jones. I think she was born Dec 1805 in Canterbury , famsearch has her baptism date of 25 Dec 1805. Records show her father as William Jones & Mother Anne (no surname identification of this would also be appreciated). Her husband was Paul Harding. I know they moved to Lincolnshire from Mid 1830s & that is where she died in 1876.  I have been looking for info on this marriage for a while now so any information would  be appreciated.

Many thanks,

P
