Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Almondbury Baptism Records
« on: Saturday 07 August 10 11:01 BST (UK)  »
Please could some one look up a baptism for Joseph Hinchliffe?  He was born in Almondbury around 1812 (based on the 1841 census).
Thanks

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Marriage look up - St Peters, Leeds
« on: Monday 06 July 09 11:44 BST (UK)  »
Please could someone check out a marriage for me?  On the LDS site there is a marriage record for Sarah Walmsley and Joseph Hinchliff on 15th March 1830 at St Peters in Leeds. These are my greatx3 grand parents.
If anyone has a chance could you look this up and see if there is any more information such as parents of either, witnesses etc?
Also there is a record for a christening for a Thomas Hinchliff on 27th July 1834 to Joseph and Sarah Hinchliff at St peters in Leeds.  I'm presuming this is their son, my greatx2 grandfather.  If possible could someone check this record too??
Thanks

Dublin / Married twice?
« on: Friday 15 May 09 22:30 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone think of a reason why the same two people might get married twice within a fortnight?
My great great grandparents, Mary Anne Moore and Michael Branagan got married on 27th May 1877 at the Registry Office, Dublin.  Then they married again at St Michaels (not clear writing) on 10th June 1877.  The fathers names and occupations are the same on both certs so I know they are definitely the same two people.  Seems a bit odd.

Westmeath / Hugh Geraghty and Mary Gallagher marriage
« on: Sunday 10 May 09 19:46 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone help - I've been to the GRO and I can't find a marriage for my 2xgreat grandparents Hugh Geraghty and Mary Gallagher.  I'm presuming it must have been before 1864.  I don't know where they were married - my greatgrandfather was born in the North Dublin Union Workhouse but it gives his father's address as Manor Street which falls in Grangegorman Parish, according to the Dublin Almanac.  If they married in Dublin I'm presuming it must have been in this parish but, according to my grandfather, they came from Mullingar.
Does anyone have a link to the family or access to Mullingar parish records (R/C)?  I don't think it can have been much before 1864.
Big ask I know.

Dublin / Claffey - watch glass maker in Dublin
« on: Monday 04 May 09 17:23 BST (UK)  »
I have  a James Claffey born around 1830 in Dublin who was a watch glass maker.  On another family history page I found a record for some other Claffey's in Birmingham with links to Dublin who were also watch glass makers/watchmakers around the 1850's (unfortunately there was no link to contact site).  Sound like a family business.  How can I find out more - any ideas?

Yorkshire (West Riding) / William Henry - Ahmednagar
« on: Thursday 23 August 07 20:33 BST (UK)  »
Anyone recognise this young man?  It is one of a bunch of photos belonging to a relative and was labelled William Henry, Ahmednagar but as far as I know he isn't a family member.

Surrey Completed Look up Requests / Florrie+Arnold, Addiscombe, Surrey 1922
« on: Monday 04 June 07 09:44 BST (UK)  »
I'm really chancing my arm here but does anyone have a link to a "Florrie and Arnold" who lived at 9 Tenterden Road, Addiscombe, Surrey in 1922?  I have no surname.  Florrie came orignally from Leeds (I think).
What I have is a letter written to my great aunt by Florrie just after her marriage to Arnold and I have a photo of Florrie.  I'd love to be able to send a copy of the letter and photo to Florrie and Arnold's relatives for their family history records.  Theres nothing extraordinary in the letter - its just a nice, warm letter written from one friend to another and the photo dates from about the same time (the date of the letter is 21/1922).

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Old photos - names
« on: Monday 04 June 07 08:55 BST (UK)  »
Do these names ring any bells with anyone?  I have some old photos and these are the names pencilled in on the back.

N George (young girl from about 1910)
E Appleton (young girl from about 1910)
William Henry (young soldier - photo was taken in Ahmednagar, India.  Similar date to the other two, I guess)
Nellie Hall (young woman from about 1915-1925.  Dark curly hair.  In one of the pictures theres a little girl with her who I presume is her daughter and in another a young woman called ?Irene who might be her sister.  I looks like Nellie was short for Eilleen).
A Mathers (young girl from about 1910)
A Stead (young girl from about 1910)
A Neathson/Nicolson (young girl from about 1910)
S Balk (young girl from about 1910)
A Banster (young woman from about 1915).

These people are probably from the Leeds area.  If anyone is interested in any of the photos and I'll try to put the photo up (not quite sure how I do this though  ???).

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Old photos
« on: Sunday 27 May 07 10:48 BST (UK)  »
I have some old photos that belonged to my great grandmother and my great aunt.  They are of women, children and men in uniform (WWI).  I can only identify about two or three but some have names pencilled on the back (when I say names its just an initial and a surname or just a first name).  Is there any where these pictures(probably just the named ones) could be displayed so people who might be interested could have a look to see if they recognise anyone?  The area where these people are from is probably Leeds/Armley and Allerton Bywater.
