Kent / Martin Thomas WRIGHT b:Dartford 1822c
« on: Tuesday 01 December 09 07:28 GMT (UK)  »
Researching my Gt Gt G/father Martin/Marton's ancestry. His marriage info at Rotherhithe 1849 names his father as Martin/Marton WRIGHT also. He later uses only the christian name of Thomas and also uses the surname of JONES on censuses from 1851 through to 1881 for some reason. All info on his marriage cert and children's baptisms he uses the name WRIGHT.

He was a 'Toll Collector' in 1849 as was his father, and later a 'Railway policeman' This coincides with the opening of the Thames tunnel and later it being taken over by the railway.

Looking for the maiden name of my Gt Gt grandmother Sarah Dalton. Sarah was born in Merton 1787c and married Edward DALTON. Her eldest son Edward baptised at Merton 6th July 1828, and her younger son William Wybrants Dalton born 1831c at Marylebone. I have them on all censuses thanks.

Researching my Gt Grandfather William Wybrants Dalton born 1831c at Marylebone to Edward & Sarah Dalton. The family were linked to City of London and Merton, Surrey where William was a silk printer for all his working life.

Interested in his middle name and where it came from in his case. I believe it is of Norwegian origin and later found in Ireland.
