Stirlingshire / Gardner Family
« on: Sunday 29 January 17 19:41 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find out information about my 3rd Great Grandmother.  Her name was Jane (or Jean) Gardner, I believe she was born in Stirlingshire in 1807.  She married John Russell and had a number of children including my 2nd great Grandmother Marion Russell. I am not sure when they married but I believe later they moved to Glasgow as on the 1851 census they lived at 6 Love Loan, if this is the correct family

Any information would be much appreciated please

Armed Forces / help with Wellington lost 27th June 1943 in Italy
« on: Friday 05 December 14 22:39 GMT (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone can help me please?

I am trying to found out more information about Sgt Thomas Alexander Owen (1379857) I know he died 27th June 1943 and is buried in Salerno War Cemetery.

I believe he was in a Wellington Bomber with a crew of:
Flt Sgt Frank Gerald Thomson (pilot) Edward Hugo Capewell, Robert Edwin Gray, William Quaile and John Arthur Thompson.

According to a NZ site Capewell was in a bomber lost over Naples on 27th June 1943, I have looked at the operations diary for Squadron 104 and its says the squadron wasn't operating that day (?)

I have googled these names but still can't find any further information about what happened that day with the Wellington or any more information on Thomas Alexander Owen ( who I think maybe my 2nd cousin x 2 removed.)

Any help would be appreciated

Other Countries / Death records in Argentina
« on: Sunday 20 July 14 15:49 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out any information about Thomas Alexander Owen born in Glasgow in 1882 and died in Buenos Aires in 1955

He emigrated with his family to Montevideo in 1889 but returned on and off to the UK throughout his life.

He may have married Mable M E Woolton and I have a record that they returned to Buenos Aires in 1919 with their daughter Helen Alexander Lillian Owen but I am not 100% sure about this.

I can't not find his death in the UK so I am presuming he died in Buenos Aires where he lived the majority of the time.

I am looking for some information about David Owen born in Anderston, Glasgow in 1826 he was a sailor with the Navy and he was last seen in 1855, he was bound for New York from Glasgow but was never heard of again by his family  ???

He had returned from the Crimea and had worked in 1854 at the Franklin Furnace in New Jersey USA as a joiner.

He was known to have been on board the steamer "James Watt" that was chartered to the British Navy
