England / Thomas John MARTIN and Fanny COLLINS - marriage

Hello,
Looking for a marriage date/place for Thomas John MARTIN to Fanny COLLINS.

Thomas was born c1864 in Camberwell, London (parents John & Hannah according to his death registration)

Fanny was born in 1870 in Denchworth, Berkshire (parents James & Emma)

The 1911 census they were residing at 139 Kings Rd, Reading, Berks. They had been married for 21 years and had four children (one deceased). Their children Elsie b1893, Thomas Herbert b1896 and Alfred bc1898 all in Fulham, London were living with them.

From when the 1911 census was taken and prior to January 1914 (when their son Thomas commenced working for the NSW Railways in Sydney) the family migrated to Australia.

Dorset / Eric Winton FUNNELL 1896 - 1959

Eric Winton FUNNEL was born 30 Sep 1896 in NSW Australia and died 6 Dec 1959 in London. During WW1 he served in the AIF #2515

At the end of the war he applied to stay in England. Reasons given, he was to marry on 25 Jan 1919 and also had guaranteed work with a J.C. Webber in Bournemouth. His request was granted.

There is a marriage registration Q2/1919 2b/2059 of Eric W. Funnell to Alfreda E. Carpenter, Christchurch, Hamps.

However there is also a marriage registration Q3/1925 2b/1735 of Eric W. Funnell to Gladys Walthew, Bournemouth, Dorset. On the 1939 census found Gladys (married) and son Peter E.W. Funnell (b.1926 d.1980) but not Eric.

So, did the first marriage end in divorce or did Alfreda die? Alternatively was there another Eric W Funnell and the proposed marriage by my EWF in Jan 1919 did not go ahead?

PS: I am not related to any of the above. Mr Funnell is one of the names I am researching on a WW1 Honour Roll for the NSW Railways.

Hi,
Owen Daniel Julian, known as Julian, born to parents Arthur and Margaret (nee Shanahan) NORTH with his birth registered in 1890 at Bunbury W.A.

Julian, whilst living in Sydney, was involved in sailing on 18-footers at the Sydney Flying Squadron and Sydney Sailing Club prior to his enlistment on 7 Sept 1914 in W.A. He was awarded the DCM during his service and return to W.A. in December 1918.

Hoping to connect with any descendants to obtain a photo of Julian for a profile I am writing re his involvement with the SFS/SSC and war service.

Australia / Grandfather's WW1 Army Box

Does anyone else have a personal army box of an Australian ancestor who serviced in WW1?

I can upon my grandfather's by chance. It had been painted, a horrid grey colour, but once removed, it revealed a beautifully made wooden box.

His initials along with company and enlistment number, were just visible on the top left hand corner.

My grandfather enlisted just days after war was declared and he served in Germany occupied New Guinea.

New Zealand Completed Requests / RODRICK/RODERICK, Francis - marriage 1840's

RODRICK/RODERICK Francis married Elizabeth/Eliza in the 1840's in NZ and their first child, John, born about 1843. (information sourced newspaper article on the death of their son John in Sydney 1900)

Francis migrated to Sydney, from the Bay of Islands, on the Elizabeth arriving Sydney Sept 1845 though his wife and son accompanied him (don't know when they arrived)

Their next child, James, birth was registered in 1847 in Sydney.

On 29 January 1859 Francis was granted citizenship as a British Subject. At the time he was aged 57 and a native of Pico, the second largest island in the Portuguese Azores, and living in Balmain (suburb of Sydney)

On the death of Francis and Elizabeth, in Sydney, no parents names were listed on their registrations.

So, my search of the NZ BDM has not resulted in any finds of Francis and Elizabeth/Eliza marriage nor birth of son John ... maybe he anglicised his surname?
