Australia / Peck Family 1850 Australia
« on: Tuesday 21 February 23 07:36 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,
I am not related to Pecks, but in my parents' belongings I have found a family reunion plate for the Peck family 1850-1987. I wonder if those dates ring any bells for people with that surname.

They may have been wheat farmers and wine growers because the outer edge of the plate is illustrated with these items. They might also have been settlers in South Australia, as the plate was made by the 'Personalized Porcelain Co.' 1 Fourth Avenue, Klemzig, South Australia, later known as Studio Potters, but no longer there. My parents used to holiday quite a lot in South Australia and may have picked it up on one of those trips.

The family may have originally come from Germany as the crudely designed family crest has the word 'Saxony' underneath the red cross, and the surname Peck at the top.

The photo makes the plate look oval shaped, but it is circular.

If you have a connection to this plate, please let me know.

The Lighter Side / What a lovely occupation!
« on: Monday 22 August 11 05:23 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I thought I'd share my latest find when transcribing the 1871 census records for Familysearch.

I had a whole page of census entries where the occupation is clearly listed as "Honest Soul".

Hi all,

This is my grandmother, probably taken in the 40's.  I am hoping some magic can be worked on it.

Thanks,

The Lighter Side / Number of posts
« on: Monday 28 December 09 23:48 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I have noticed lately that the number of posts next to my name is not increasing, and also that there are other areas of the board where the posts for all the posters on a page all say '0'. Has anyone else noticed?

US Lookup Requests / Death registrations confirmation, please.
« on: Sunday 08 November 09 07:36 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

Someone long ago suggested I request that someone look at the details for the following, and I am just getting around to it!  I'm not even sure if it is possible...but I thought I'd ask anyway!

I am seeking someone who is able to have a look at New York County records for two deaths:

Joseph Carson, 65 yrs, old died Aug 31, 1946, in Manhattan NY. Death Certificate #18671 If he is mine, his father was Thomas, mother Elizabeth Crombie.

His wife Jessie Carson, ms Anderson, 65 yrs old, died Oct 20, 1947, in Manhattan NY.  Death Certificate # 22505.  IF she belongs to me, her father is David Anderson, and mother Janet or Jessie Hislop

Thanks for reading!

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Great great grandmother to tidy
« on: Friday 07 August 09 00:20 BST (UK)  »
Hello restorers,

I am not sure if I resized this image properly.  The original was massive!  I hope someone can tidy and perhaps give a date for my great great granny, although it looks to me as if it was taken in the twenties.

Thanks in advance,

Nina

Please help!

This is the only photo we have of my Mum's Granny.  It has just been emailed to me, so I don't have the original, and it may have been worked on before I received it.

It is my Mum's birthday on the 20th April and I would just love to give her this photo as a surprise.  She hasn't seen it for over 40 years but I had my cousin hunt it down for me (he is in Scotland, I am in Australia).

When I checked the resolution on my comouter it seems high, so I am hoping it was correct!

Thanks,

Nina

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Cute photo to restore
« on: Saturday 17 January 09 12:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hi folks,

I am hoping someone can clean this photo up.  Colour is fine....blue eyes, blonde hair and the rug was subtle blues and pinks with a faint lemon stripe I think.  It is such a lovely photo, it's a shame to leave it the way it is.

Thanks all,

Nina

Down / COMPLETED- Decomed
« on: Friday 12 September 08 10:07 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I just received a marriage extract for my ancestors and it states the groom was from Decomed.   I have never heard of this place and was unable to find anything on the internet.  Does it still exist?  I am hoping someone here knows more about it.
