Berkshire / Shrubs Hill Grange, Sunningdale
« on: Saturday 03 April 21 16:13 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out about the house where my Grand Mother was in service.

She was employed by the Kenyon Family at Shrubs Hill Grange, Sunningdale. She told me that she loved her time there and told me stories of trips to Harrods for her uniform and how Mr & Mrs Kenyon would attend Royal Ascot in the Royal enclosure

I would love to see an image of the house and I would be grateful for any information

Thank you

United States of America / Denis Kennedy - New York - circa 1855
« on: Sunday 21 March 21 13:51 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to track down the immigration details of my 3x Grt Grand Parents Denis and Margaret (NEE Murray) KENNEDY. They originate in Cashel & Emly, Co Tipperary, Ireland.

I have found them on the New York 1855 census residing in Ward 9, Brooklyn City, Kings, New York along with their Daughters Maria (age 11) and Margaret (age 4).  None of their sons appear to be with them.
Dennis is shown as Blacksmith and the Family show as residing in the USA for 2 years.

I have found a death cert for who I believe may be my Dennis back in Ireland in 1872, occupation is again Blacksmith.
I would be grateful for any assistance in tracking down the Family movements.
Thank you in advance

Tipperary / KENEDY/KINEDY/KENNEDY
« on: Tuesday 16 March 21 14:00 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to track down the movements of my Great Grand Father (Daniel KENNEDY) Family.
The story is that the Family emigrated to the USA around 1852, however Daniel (born 1841) did not go with them but remained in Drom & Inch, being cared for by a local doctor.
It is thought Daniel looked after the Doctors pony and later went on to become a lawyers assistant.
Around 1858 he joined the Army,1st Battalion, Kings 8th regiment of foot and served until around 1878 when the regiment left Malta for India.  I have been unsuccessful in tracking down his army record but have his rank & occupation from his marriage certificate
Daniel remained in Malta till he died in 1921.

Any information on the best place to look to verify the information or any local knowledge would be appreciated.

Family details:
    • My Great Grand Father Daniel KENNEDY born 08 March 1841

    • Father: Denis KEN(N)EDY/KINEDY   Mother: Margaret MURRAY

    • Sister:  Mary baptised 05 January 1843
    • Brother:  Edmund baptised 07 Feb 1845, Cashel & Emly, Tipperary
    • Brother: Denis baptised 05 July 1848, Cashel & Emly, Tipperary
    • Brother: Pat baptised 14 March1852, Cashel & Emly, Tipperary

Other Countries / INDIA - Death record - DARLAN/DONLAN
« on: Monday 09 November 20 14:10 GMT (UK)  »
Afternoon all

I have spent a great deal of time trying to track down my Great Grand Fathers death in India.
He was known as Frederick DONLAN. He died prior to 1921 when my Great Grand Mother remarried and is recorded as Widow.
Today I have found a record on 'Family search' for a Frederick DARLAN who died in Bengal, India on 26th April 1920.
I have found the record on Ancestry but there is no image. A search at the India Office at the BL was no trace
Can anyone advise how I could view/purchase this record.
Many thanks
