Denbighshire / Lewis Hughes / Mary Jones Llangollen
« on: Thursday 31 December 15 11:06 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I decided this NYE to have a poke around the Hughes family line.

I am stuck at Lewis Hughes born between 1835-1844  Llangollen Denbighshire who married Mary Jones (born Llangollen Denbighshire died 1895 Merthyr Tydfil) possibly around 1858.

I only have them in the 1871 living at 63 Hall St Llangollen with children Jane, Elizabeth Ann (MINE), Catherine, Edward and Thomas Richard.

I haven't been able to find them in any other Census. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks  :D

Antrim / Yeates family 1860s (Robert and Susanne)
« on: Sunday 27 December 15 02:12 GMT (UK)  »
Hi.
I'm looking to discount a possibility.

My Susanne Campbell was bapt 21 April in 1844 in Loughgall Armagh.  After she arrived in Australia by herself (1875) she married in 1876 and had three sons. She couldn't read or write and appears to have taken at least 10 years off her age.

SO I'm wondering whether the following wedding is hers.

Susanne Campbell married Robert Yeates 17 Nov 1862 Belfast Antrim.

Is anyone able to tell me anything about this Yeates family?

Many thanks for your help!!

Can you help me find out about Aaron Alley?

He was married to Ann Pike according to his son Thomas’ Australian Death Certificate.

He has 3 children for whom he has been listed on marriage records.
Thomas Edward Alley (born 1833 Beedon Berkshire) married Phoebe Chown 17 June 1855 Kennington Surrey
Giles Alley (born 1836 Beedon Berkshire) married Elizabeth Harriet Williams 4 October 1858 Kennington Surrey
Mary Ann Alley married Thomas Chown 19 Dec 1858 Kennington Surrey

There is VERY poor information on the family for 1841 on familysearch. It has them living in Beedon Berkshire with no sign of Aaron or his son Thomas.

Thomas and Giles are both working in Berkshire in 1851 as ag farmers. Thomas has moved to Chippendam Place, Tobacconist Shop, Kilburn, Willesden, Middlesex in 1861 census

From what I have found on freebmd it looks like Aaron  died in the June ¼ of 1861 Kennington Surrey.

His wife Ann may be dead in 1850 Surrey or in Rotherhithe Workhouse as an unmarried 66yo inmate. At the workhouse the birthplace is given as Maidenhead Berkshire in 1785.

Is Aaron Irish?

thank you in anticipation of finding something about this man.
cheers

Renfrewshire / Mccaulley 1841 Census Paisley
« on: Thursday 12 November 15 08:50 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I'm looking for the family of John Mccaulley born 1793-1796 Ireland.
I have them in the 1851 census.
John(1793), Mary(1805), Mary(1827), Ellen(1830), Ann (1833) and John (1835).
They are at 11 Church Street Abbey.
The father is a road labourer and the girls are doing cotton spinning.
A girl Betsy was born in 1841.  It has her place of birth as Ireland.  So I may be looking for people who are actually in Ireland.

the spelling of the last name in the 51 Census is MacAuley. It also comes as Macauley, Mccauley and McCauley. and that is without any u for w swaps.

thank you for your help.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / MacAuley in 1901... the missing mother?
« on: Tuesday 13 October 15 10:40 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I'm still trying to find my exact John (James) Macauley.

in 1891 he is working as an Iron Works Labourer born in Liverpool aged 25(1866) and married to Mary Bradshaw.  These are definitely the people.

however in 1901 Mary McCauley is with her son and her Sister. at 3 Briggs Yard Accrington.

I think i have John MacAuley at 3 Bramly Street Accrington aged 38 (1863) Liverpool working as an Iron Works Labourer.
AND HE IS WITH HIS MOTHER AN IRISH WIDOW. Her name is given as Laura.

find my past gives her a name but I can't find her in the 1891 or any other census.  remember he was born in Liverpool in 1863-66.  So where has she been... and who can find her?  is her name in 1901 a different name?

Thanks for any help.

Stirlingshire / Kilsyth Census information STUART/STEWART
« on: Sunday 27 September 15 09:06 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I've spent the afternoon searching for the family of my Christina Stewart.

I found her married in the 1881 Census to David Connell (a weaver's son in Paisley) with the information - Christina (born 1850 Kilsyth Stirlingshire)

so I found her 1851 (I THINK)

Elizabeth S (this S may not be Stewart)  H    W F 39 1812 Washerwoman Kilsyth
William        Son    19 (32) – Kilsyth
Elizabeth    dau 9 1842 Sch Kilsyth
Ann            dau  7 (44) Sch Kilsyth
John       son  4 (47) – Kilsyth
Christian     dau 0 (51) – Kilsyth

but no father and the first son is a lot older than the rest without an occupation.

i think i've found a couple of sisters living at separate residences in the Main Street Kilsyth in 1861

Elisabeth Serv Unm F 20 (41) Gen Serv Kilsyth
Anne Stewart Serv Unm F 18 (43)Genl Serv Kilsyth

But I have found no other people in any other census

I wonder how a girl from Kilsyth marries a "Carter" boy from Paisley?  the only possible link I can currently dream up is that David Connell is the son of an innovative Co-op Weaver and perhaps Kilsyth Weavers heard of him???

I would REALLY appreciate your help in locating some of my Stewart/Stuart line!
with thanks

« on: Saturday 23 May 15 04:06 BST (UK)  »
Hi!
I'm looking to come for a drive through Marsworth to see where the family actually lived during the 1841, 51, 61, 71 and 81 Censuses.

I believe they lived in the Canal House (Watery Lane?) Marsworth in 1871.
I also remember reading William living in his old age at the Red Lion 90 Vicarage road.

William (1784), son Thomas (1815) and wife Elizabeth, their children James, Lucy, Maria, Joseph(1855), Elizabeth, Emma, Clara

THANK YOU for any help.

One of my early relatives named his house here in Australia "Kilbogie" and another was Kirkcaldy.
They came from around Uphall, Queensferry and maybe over the bridge into Fife....  I know of Kirkcaldy but where is Kilbogie? Or does it mean something else??? Thanks
